ITV.com registered 1.1m video views on the day after the final of Britain's Got Talent as part of a wider surge in viewing over the last five months.

More than 8,000 hours of video were watched on the Britain's Got Talent site on Sunday 1 June, contributing to more than 6 million video views on the site during the series transmission of 12 April–31 May.

The show has helped video views on ITV.com and ITV Local grow by 21% month-on-month for the last five months. In May, 12 million videos were viewed on the sites, with ITV.com attracting 6.8 million unique users and ITV Local attracting 1 million unique users.

Since its relaunch in August, ITV.com and ITV Local has received 69 million video views and there has been a 362% increase in usage for video across ITV's portfolio of sites.

ITV did not reveal figures for its top performing shows, but said that those in the top 10 were attracting hundreds of thousands of views per week (see table). Coronation Street leads the list of all time most viewed with 5 million views.

ITV Consumer managing director Jeff Henry said: "The growth in consumer demand for video was anticipated and stimulated by the relaunch of our sites last year.

"We are now seeing our audience telling us their linked experience is incredibly attractive and we will continue to build on this with new developments in the months to come.

"Our turnaround plan sets out our ambition to significantly grow our online assets and these numbers reaffirm our belief in the potential of this area."
