Default should Heath Ledger get an oscar???

If you've seen the dark knight, you would have seen Heath Ledger playing the Joker brilliantly, and it's so sad that he died.

But do you think he deserves an Oscar??

He did play a good role, worthy of an Academy Award... but it's only July. Better films, and better supporting roles may come along.

If he's deemed worthy of one, they should and probably will still award it.

And I want to see it now!

I'll have to watch batman begins again first though. I've only seen it on a dodgy pirate copy I got from knock off Nigel and I was drunk at the time

I have seen The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger was amazing! However, we have yet to see other films. Wether they be big budget blockbusters or edgy independent films. I think if there is no other performances as Heath's later this year then he probably will win Best Actor in A Supporting Role, but, if there is a better performance he will probably get nominated for it.

The Dark Knight#1 IMDB.
The official best film ever, apparantly.

I don't know I haven't seen every single film, ever. Lol.

Talking about this right after seeing DK last night (soooo packed!! Had to wait for a later showing). Oscars point blank should be given the the most deserving of that criteria.

He did play the part well though, but better than others being considered?...hmm...

He played SUCH a good Joker, I'm not sure if he is as crazy as Jack Nicholas but hey! lol
He acting extremely well and I do believe he'll win an Oscar, and the fact that he is dead makes him have more of a chance of winning one.

Regardless of The Dark Knight being completely overated, Heath played a superb Joker that makes Jack Nicholsons portrayal look as scary as a happy meal [sorry stuck up old timers who refuse to accept Heath as the Joker].

If he doesn't get an Oscar I will be disappointed
He was amazing, one of the best performances I have seen by an actor and he really did make the film for me.

I think he deserves an Oscar, he was fantastic in it. The highlight of the whole film for me. If he doesn't, I'll be suprised because I would have thought a lot of people would have thought the same seeing as he's one of the main roles in the film.

I hate to be the pessimistic one but someone was bound to say this sooner or later, I haven't seen it personally and I cant really comment on his acting skills, but I do believe people are blowing this far out of proportion, for saying its the best acting performance in a film yaddy yadda. Just trying to decide would it be such a big deal if he didn't kill himself? The hype for this film is un real, and I think its personally crazy saying its the best acting performance in a film someone should watch the monolouge of Valerie from v for vendetta and watch the performance of Nataie Portman as "Evie" She did a breathtaking performance throughout the whole film and never won an oscar.
I do hope they treat this just as if he never died, as its not fair on other performers. But it is possible he can win one, people that have passed away have won many awards before. I will pass more comment on this when I see the film but reviews I have heard from people is that its hyped far too much.

Link to the monolouge I mentioned:

If he deserves one and genuinely is the best actor from any film in the past year then yes. If not then no. Just because he is dead doesn't mean he should be given priority over anyone else for an award.

Before I saw the film I was sharing Fom's viewpoint - in that he wouldn't get this hype if he wasn't dead.

However, after seeing it...I can personally vouch for how brilliant a portrayal as the Joker he did. I'm not sure if it matches Oscar criteria, though. Action films don't get a lot of representation in these awards.

I wouldn't say this is a serious debate, but yes, he should get an Oscar.

For a last performance, that surely was the best way to go out. An amazing character.

RIP Heath
