I cant wait! Sadly , the X - Files was one of those things that fell out of popular culture along with the likes of wwe , the Jerry Springer show and other kickass stuff from the late 90's/early 00's which easily owns ANYTHING put foward today.

I think it is still very much part of pop culture. I mean just this week on BBA when the person who thought he was abducted my aliens was telling his story they played the X Files music. It is really hard for a show to stay popular after it is taken off the air but The X files does remain very popular more so then alot of other shows that were big at the time. The X files was the first real world wide phenomenon and paved the way for many of the big shows today. I'm really looking foward to the movie cause A: I get to see Mulder and Scully again and B: 'cause it will relight X files mania for a bit.

Yes its still in pop culture , but not to the same obsessive scale as when it was on air. Its more nostalgia than anything. Its now iconic , and rightfully so.

I was merely drawing a comparison , as I usualy do , to illustrate how everything in the 90's kicked ass compared to today. TV shows , music , everything. The bar was raised and broken repeatedly in the 90's.

What have we in the 00's? Britains Got Talent? Leona Lewis? Give me a break. Its like the world has lost its edge.

Okay I got your point man. I was not attacking your views I just wanted to stick up for the show. All shows become a lot less popular after being pulled off the air (with a few exceptions of course). But the X files remains a strong DVD seller and has a enough interest from more casual viewers to justify it being show on several different channels a number of times a day. I agree TV in the 90's was a massive turning point Dramas got a lot better production value wise and sit-coms got more original.

You completely missed his point. He was not talking about popularity in numbers, he was saying The X-Files sort of went out of fashion with the rest of the 90's, whcih is true, sadly. As everything that replaced the x-files and TV in general in the 00's SUCKS!

You have to admit though, they really messed up the mythology and let the series go on far too long.

Thats why I am happy this movie is stand alone. Even as a hardcore X files but I know that the latter season take quite a bit of will power and I will often say it had the worst last epiosde of a show I have seen

Dont speak for them if he had a problem with what I said im sure he would have got back to me.

Since that discussion ended week ago Im not going to bother with it like I said I was talking to them not you if they had a problem with what I said they would have posted. Dont mean to sound rude it just a very old post. Just cause I dont agree with what he is saying does not mean I do not understand to say the x files is unpopluar is just stuid.

No I just do not see the pointing in debating what someone else might and might not have said.

So the movie flopped so-so reviews and little promotion lead it to opening at no.4 in the US.

I don't know whether to watch it. It got shiteous reviews. I wasn't really a fan of the series (I used to watch it on Sky One though) and I didn't think the first movie was half-bad.

I think I'll wait till it come out on DVD. I was a fan of the show but TV has moved on since the x-Files so it's not quite a cutting edge as it was in the early 90's.

I saw it, and I thought it was okay. It could have been better, but not bad. I was disappointed though because there were no aliens AT ALL. The only supernatural thing was Billy Connolly's psychic character, and you didn't know whether to believe him or not. It was more a thriller and drama about Mulder and Scully's relationship and how their beliefs differ, rather than a spooky supernatural.
