I'm in the same boat Shaun, but my problem is that my parents did their exams pretty well and therefore are in position to put me down. The point is though, you've already said you're going to do the Politics later.

I told my parents that this was my life so it was essentially my decision (since this is my future), and they had a go at me saying it affects them just as much - and the longer I stay in the house, the more I'm feeding off them! I guess it's true, but it hurts all the same.
