A KEY figure in British TV comedy was run over and killed yesterday.

Witnesses said writer and producer Geoffrey Perkins, 55, seemed to collapse in the street in front of a flatbed truck.

Paramedics battled in vain to save him at the scene in London’s busy Marylebone High Street.

The trucker drove off before speaking to cops but was later traced.

Former head of BBC comedy Geoffrey worked on shows including The Royle Family and Father Ted. His latest Beeb show, Harry and Paul — starring Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse — is due to start next week.
