I'm a vegetarian but I really don't understand vegans-cows need to be milked, chickens need to lay eggs! As long as everything is free-range its fine. And vegans can't eat ice-cream or chocolate which must suck.

Well meat can be easily substituted with Quorn, lentils, beans, nuts etc,but its really hard to find substitutes for dairy.

I respect it. But i would never do it. I see it natural to kill animals to eat, i think its the circle of life! But whatever rocks your boat.

I have a good friend who is vegan. She loves it. She substitutes dairy with Nut Milk!? i know! nuts make milk apparently Soya cheese and stuff. She survives on it. so its cool

I can't understand why people do it, its natural to get milk from a cow and other things like that so as long as the animals are looked after does it matter?
I do respect vegetarians because I can see a point but I do not respect vegans.

Cant imagine us all getting milk from the females in our household though haha. I wouldn't drink it if the milk came from my mum...

I wouldnt be able to stop eating meat never mind stop drinking milk! Eating animals is natural aswell though... its called the food chain!

I have not drank milk from the age of about 6. The thought just turns my stomach.

I'm a vegetarian, but I respect vegans even though I find their diets way too fussy. I don't like milk, butter, cream, cheese or honey but I eat foods like ioghurt and pasta which contain egg (and so on) so that doesn't make me a vegan but I suppose I could try if I wanted to. It's down to choice really, so good for them.

Then I think you should be a good friend and buy them a vegan cookbook for Chimbo! Serious vegans know all about good nutrition and eat a very healthy balanced diet so, if you're being serious, your friend's a bit of a nutjob IMO.

Cows only 'need' to be milked when they've got no babies to feed. The dairy industry works hand in hand with the veal indusry. Cows forcably made pregnant several times a year - and their young calves taken away from them to be slaughtered as veal - just so we can have our coffee and cereal in a morning. Nice.

Popular misconception about veganism again there Chewy.

Look!

A lot of dark chocolate is vegan. There are loads of vegan desserts, ice creams, yoghurts, chocolates etc. You'd be pleasantly surprised if you actually tasted some of the better vegan alternatives out there.

I think its pointless, cows have to be milked, chickens have to lay eggs, why just dispose of them?

I could never be vegetarian or vegan.

Id lose loads of weight and get weak.

People can eat how they like no right or wrong with what they do, unless its canibalism.
