Default Should I quit my job?

Well as some of you know Im at college and I work part time although Ive been off work for about a month now becuase i wanted to settle into my new college course without work getting in the way and also I`ve been on holiday for two weeks.
So anyway Im due to goback tomorrow but I thought that I`d have found something else by now but i guess i just havent tried hard enough =[.So anyway Im faced with the dilemma do I go back or not.
The days that Im ment to work are (nightshift) 10pm-8am on monday night which is SO freaking sucky becuase im at collegew at monday during the day id have to run home, sleep and then go to work!(this is on the hotels reception) and then my second shift is on sunday and they said all they can offer me is a housekeeping shift which i really do not want to do because ive done it before and its awful.Theres this nasty old bitch for a boss, they give you WAY to much to do plus its **** pay.Ive tried it before and they`ve had me in tears with how they speak to me
I dont ever post stuff like this on tibb but I really dont know what to do,ive spoke to my friends and there just like do what you want so there not very helpul and my mam, well she said she doesn`t want me to go back becuase she knows how much it upsets me and how it will mess with college and how i physically collapse on the couch as soon as i get home. But at the same time she does want me to have a job and so do ,she hasn`t actually said 'don`t go'.The main reason I feel like I can`t quit is becuase I owe my bf some money and i don`t wanna be like oh I quit my job and him think bad of me becuase the payback will be delayed until i find other work.If I thought id find something else within the next 2,3 weeks then i`d leave but i really cant afford to and dont want to,be without work for a long period of time.
argh i dont know what to do,so i just wondered what some of you would do if you were in my position.Thanks.

If I were you I'd speak to your boyfriend about the money, and say you want to quit your job because you want to consontrate on college etc..

Its not like you will never have another job, so maybe you could just put the money you owe him on hold or something? Would he mind?

Its gonna be hard keeping up with college and that job, especially with those hours too x

well if you're going to quit now is an ideal time really, places are looking for christmas temps so just try to find a new job to pay what you owe. if you're not happy with your job/pay then you really should quit especially if its affecting your life/sleep in a bad way.

Can you not quit college, and come back to the course a few years down the line in evening classes or correspondence courses. Jobs are hard to come by and there is little sympathy for people who quit, especially from the job centre.

If you have a job why do you need further qualifications?

im assuming its a part time job just to help her through college, college leads onto better things, i expect supernoodles wants to go to uni? college is more important if you want to go to uni.

Well, I think you should stick it out until you have enough money to pay back your boyfriend - it will also look better on your C.V. that you're doing such a horrible shift, whilst doing it, and then your reason for quitting is "to work on your studies".
It may be horrible, but just stick it out, pay your boyfriend back, and then get out of there!

Speak to your boyfriend about the situation.

Explain how its getting you down but you want to pay him back and he'll probably be understanding and explain you can pay him back when you get a job with more sociable working hours that doesn't make you cry.

Well, some people want further qualifications just because knowledge is power. It's not just a stepping stone.

Secondly, some people use jobs just as a stepping stone onto doing something they'll enjoy moreso. If everyone stopped with the FE then we'd surely run out of doctors, lawyers, IBs...

One of my functions is to think the unthinkable - Think outside the box etc

Sorry, but I have qualifications, and all I can get is a low grade civil service post.

Look at people like Richard Branson, hardly any qualifications and lok where he is at?

Sometimes it not what we want, but what we can get.

At the end of the day, you will need a job to pay the bills. High aspirations do not pay bills.

And sometimes qualifications count against you, as I found out, when I was once looking for work, I was prepared to take a job at a fast food place, but one look at my qualifications, and they turned me down as I was over qualified.

Well Im sure your situation is not a common occurance otherwise we wouldn`t have so many students.
I don`t know what sort of qualifications your talking about but surely it can only benefit me to have a skilled trade, its not just about the qualification.
I fully understand its not what we want, but what we can get I am open to almost anything atm,I am an extremely hard worker,Ive worked 11 and 12 days on the trot before and at less than the minimum wage.I may be young but I do know what hard grafting is,my reason for wanting to quit my job is not so much the hours but the fact that I have been stuck in this dead end ,low paid job for over 8 months, only to have actually made myself physically ill becuase of it just a few months back. When your as unhappy as I am becuase of a job I don`t think it becomes worth it anymore, yes I have money I owe and yes I need to buy clothes, cosmetics etc for myself but Its not as if I have actual bills to pay,Obviously I am 18 and that makes me an adult but barely 6months ago I was still by law classed as a child and I don`t think its fair to put someone of my age under the pressure and stress that I have been under becuase of my job when its not totally 100% necessery.

Surely Ł4.00 is under the minimum wage? Try and find a job which you will enjoy and pays better money. There's no point working so hard and collapsing because of all the stress that you'll be under.

Can you claim EMA? It would give you a weekly income so you can spend the money on things that you'll want without having to work ridiculous hours at work.

nope I can`t claim EMA,I can`t tell you how much Id appreciate it if I could though.
I haven`t packed in yet but I rang in sick today so that gives me a whole week to try and find something or at least try and get an interview or send away some application forms without actually giving up.

Try getting a job at a supermarket, most of them will be looking at taking on work for the Christmas period, and if you make a good impression then they'll probably keep you on permanently.

Have you tried searching for a job online? Most of the big companies will have a 'Job' page on there with all of the current job vacancies.
