Default BBLB and Big Mouth axed - replaced by Big Eye?

Credit to Voodoo Child at Digital Spy.

Still unconfirmed but wouldn't be unexpected at all. Some Big Mouth regulars have received this e-mail:

Quote:
"Hello _____,

We know how much you loved coming down to our 'Big Brother' shows in the Summer and knowing what good contributions you gave to these we would like you to attend the pilot test screening of our brand new show 'Big Brother's Big Eye'.

This new show is a proposed new 'Big Brother' spin-off to air on E4 combining the magazine style of 'BBLB' with the audience opinion of 'BBBM'. We will be taking an in-depth look into the world of 'Big Brother' fans and hope to include regular panelist 'fans' bringing us their opinions with an audience of 'Big Brother' forum members getting their turn to give their opinion. (Not forgetting one or two of our regular characters!)

This recording is scheduled to take place on THURSDAY 4TH DECEMBER 2008 at 13:00PM, ELSTREE STUDIOS, SHENLEY ROAD, BOREHAMWOOD, HERTFORDSHIRE. However this is subject to change.

We would very much welcome you to this recording and if you would like to attend please reply to this email and we will contact you once more closer to the time.

Endemol Audience Research Team."

http://digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showt...php?p=28217289

A shame to see BBLB and Big Mouth go, and a shame they didn't make the decision before BB9 really. Personally I thought George was growing into the BBLB role, though he might be kept for Big Eye, while Big Mouth could never flourish until it got a new permanent host - and Jack Whitehall was just waiting to be asked IMO.

My only concern is over when they'll schedule the show, as BBLB and Big Mouth served two quite different audiences. My gut feeling is it'll be a post-BB show in the Big Mouth slot, but after eight years of BBLB it's difficult to imagine there being no spin-off show before the main show each night.

Worst move possible IMO - like Brekkie said, they cater to two different audiences. There's no doubt that a complete revamp for both shows was needed, though I've never been for the idea of merging them.

If it aint broke, why fix it?
I mean the only thing wrong with BBLB was the hosts, otherwise nothing else was wrong with it?

Though in this case it's probably more "If it ain't fixed, why break it?"

Neither shows were in the best of health but they were far from beyond repair. George really grew into his role on BBLB this summer and with a tighter focus the show could go from strength to strength once more, while all Big Mouth needed was a permanent host once again to make the show their own - and they had that man waiting in the wings in the form of Jack Whitehall.

I think they should axe BBBM and replace it with Big Eye, but keep BBLB. I'm not really a fan of BBLB anymore but it just comes as part of the BB package. Maybe they should just try it out during CBB and if it's good keep it for BB10?

Thank you Jesus !! That's what BB needed: a makeover.
BBBM was dreadful at times and as for BBLB...well I think there's nothing much to comment.

I'm glad they start over and try to improve the show. If it's real, I hope it rocks !

I hope so!

But I think there should be BBLB on a Friday (before the eviction, literally 'switch over now') and on a Sunday.

If its true I'm glad BBBM has gone. Since Russell left and they increased the audience size it just turned into a bunch of chavs screaming about stuff and being so out of touch with public opinion (even though I had some of the same opinions)

I hope they bring in Caroline Flack to present it

But why?

BBLB and BBBM are two totally different shows. BBLB for news, Mouth for late night adult discussion. Making two opposite shows one would be a big mistake.

Definitely needs to be a pre-eviction show on Fridays. I've always said though the post-eviction edition of Big Mouth should be axed - would much rather watch live streaming then of the HMs reacting to the eviction rather than a room of nobodies talking about how they might be reacting to the eviction.

I also firmly believe the eviction interview on Friday night should be the climax of the week, not just for us - but also for the evictee. They shouldn't be dragged off to do interviews with Big Mouth and Big Ears straight after.

However, if the eviction shows remain split (though after this summers ratings, they really need to be merged into one 90-minute show), Big Eye should fill the slot between the two shows in the same way The Xtra Factor does for ITV2.

Talking of Big Ears though, I wonder now C4 Radio has been ditched whether they'll continue with it. IMO it was one spin-off too far, but saying that it was actually a half decent show, and keeping it as a podcast spin-off from Big Eye isn't a bad idea at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if Big Ears was televised or just stayed as a podcast.

Viewer Enquiries is not exactly the most reliable/authoritative department of Channel 4. Until it's officially announced, it's still not happening for me.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I certainly couldn't stick another series of BBLB with such inept presenters. BBBM, on the other hand, was more hit and miss but it worked more often that it didn't.

There's no looks like about it, it's coming back, end of. The crew have already been contracted for it and as you can see a spin-of is being formulated.
