You often hear on X factor or American Idol that the performers need to be versatile, and need to delve into different musical genre's. Well I am a little biased about this and the purpose of this thread is that I want you all to prove me wrong.
In my opinion, I genuinely believe there is no one in the charts as versatile as Kelly Clarkson, and I don't get why so many pop stars aren't versatile when people like Simon Cowell insist they must be! I know I am biased, so this is your oppertunity to prove me wrong, is there anyone out there more versatile? I know Xtina can be quite versatile. Kinda a lot of videos, so I have put titles so you dont have to watch them all. Kinda hard to choose just a few, me being such a fan haha. Here is my proof: Big band: Because of you (Tony Bennett tribute special) Stuff like that there (American Idol) Country: Why haven't I heard from you (Reba Tribute) Does he love you (Reba Tribute) Rock: Cryin' (Women who rock Special) Since u been gone (VMA's 05) Acoustic/Songwriter style: Shelter (React Now for Hurricane Katrina) Up to the mountain (Idol gives back) Latin (kinda): Amame (Latin Grammy's) Ballad: Because of you (Grammy's '06 Timeless (Kelly's film 'Justin to Kelly') and for fun... A bit of dancing!: Miss Independant (American Idol) (Cant believe simon cowell got her to do that) Anyone in the charts that is more versatile? |

I disagree about artists being versatile for the sake of being versatile. It's better to specialise in one specific genre than be averagely good at everything.
