EXCLUSIVE Mum reveals favourite's childhood album and tells how success has eased family pain He blasts band after they ask rival Cheryl for advice

Furious Louis Walsh is at war with rival judge Cheryl Cole - because HIS act asked HER for winning tips.

Louis, 56, is fiercely protective of boy band JLS and went ballistic when he heard they had turned to the Girls Aloud star instead of him for advice.

A source revealed: "Louis is very precious when it comes to JLS and managing bands is how he made his career. He's baffled people would think Cheryl could possibly know more than him.

"But she's been in Girls Aloud for six years and JLS want the same success. They asked for lots of advice, particularly style tips. She knows how a band should look."

Cheryl, 25, whose acts Diana Vickers, Alex Burke and Laura White are among the favourites to win, has been glad to help - despite being told she is silly to.

Jls - Aston Merrygold, 20, Marvin Humes, 23, Oritse Williams and Jonathan Gill, both 21- are Louis's last remaining act but he reckons they're the best band to appear on X Factor.

They sang Ain't That A Kick In The Head last night. And our source added: "Cheryl is being very supportive to the boys, she's too kind to say no. She knows what it's like to be starting out on a reality show because she did it herself." Louis managed Girls Aloud after they won Popstars: The Rivals in 2003 but there were claims he didn't support them enough.

Cheryl recently said: "Louis has never been great with girl groups."

Louis has already branded Simon Cowell "arrogant" and ridiculed Dannii Minogue for having plastic surgery.
