Love-split model in 150ft death leap

A MODEL whose heart was broken when she discovered her lover was married has leaped 150ft to her death.
Beautiful Sahar Daftary went to the luxury flat of her ex, a wealthy property developer, to pick up her things.

Police believe the pair had a blazing row before 24-year-old Sahar — winner of a “Face of Asia” contest — flung herself from the balcony of the man’s 12th-floor waterside apartment.

It is thought the businessman, aged in his mid-30s, feared trouble and had earlier asked cops to meet him at the flat.

But officers arrived to find Sahar lying severely injured at the foot of the block at Salford Quays, Greater Manchester. Paramedics were unable to save her.

Police arrested her distraught ex, who has not been named. But he was later released as all the evidence pointed to suicide.

Friends told last night how the couple held a ceremony last year at which Sahar declared her love for the man.

But she later discovered he was married with a child, which triggered a bitter split two months ago.

Intimate footage of Sahar allegedly performing a sex act was subsequently posted on the internet, prompting fears someone was trying to shame her.

Sahar, whose family live in West London, travelled to Manchester on Saturday for a fashion show held in a restaurant.

Police think she slipped away while it was being organised and headed to the apartment. It is situated in one of three curved glazed towers built on former docklands, where properties sell for up to £800,000.

A police source said: “Witnesses have said there was no shouting or ranting, just a single scream. It is being looked at as either suicide or a horrible accident.”

The sobbing mother of Sahar, who had four sisters, had to be supported by relatives at the family home yesterday.

A brother-in-law who gave his name as Timor said: “She is heartbroken. It’s all fresh at the moment. We don’t know the truth yet. Sahar was a very nice girl.”

Timor said the family began travelling to Manchester yesterday to view the body. But they had to turn back when they learned the morgue was due to close before they could get there.

Afrah Sami, a close friend of Sahar, said: “We are all shocked and devastated. Sahar was very beautiful — she loved life and was always the centre of the party.

“She met this man in Manchester and they were very happy. Then she won the Face of Asia competition and got several big contracts.

“She seemed to have the world at her feet. But she discovered he was married and became very unhappy. The stress changed her and she stopped eating properly.

“When she came up on Saturday she was distracted and preoccupied with collecting her things from the flat. But he didn’t want to see her.”

A resident at the block said: “I saw people standing around something on the floor and instantly assumed someone had fallen or jumped.”
