Yeah that damn thing affected all the shows!
Pushing Daisies has definitely got a slightly Ugly Betty feel to it but maybe the surrealism is a bit too much for some people's taste. Dunno, just speculation.
Just checked Wiki, and in the US, Season 1 got an average of 9.5 million and Season 2 got an average of 5.5 million. So yeah, that writers strike must have hit it bad.
What a shame, it's a brilliant show!
