Once again, another Sunday BigBro on C4. Once again, another psychiatric report on the housemates.
Alex: Uncompromising, Integrity Jonny: Doesn't let the mask slip Kate: Artificial smiles, doesn't show true feelings They said something about Jade as well, but it was not that memorable. Once again, the hacks at C4 are painting Alex's constant whining and moaning as signs that he is a genuine guy. Jonny wears a mask, and doesn't show his true self. Oh yes? What about his two week depression? And don't we all say we should have clouted someone, well after the event when it is safe to say it? Kate doesn't show her true feelings. Cited her "artificial" smile at the start of BB3. Of course, you are being polite to strangers at that stage, then later you get to know them. Hopefully the punters can now see through all that crap! People in the pay of the program should not be allowed to influence us. We should be allowed to judge for ourselves. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You're absolutely right Oldgit
![]() I was really annoyed when they showed Kate as being false tonight. If I had just walked into a strange house and had to meet 11 people and be nice and polite, then I really don't think I would be able to have a happy smiley face on me all the time! For goodness sake BB, the same psychiatrists did the same thing with housemates last year, showing how false people's smiles were part of the time! You try smiling all day every day and see how you get on!!!!!!! |

How many hosuemates have we had over 3 series - 36? I don't remember a single one of those housemates, in their eviction interview, saying that they were their 'true self' in the house.
They all, without exception (if memory serves) said that you couldn't be your real self in such an unreal environment - it wasn't possible. Now if the psychologists are saying that Alex is the only one behaving naturally, that raises concerns about his mental well being. If the others are, on occasions, showing signs of 'covering up', 'not being true to themselves', this shows they are in control of themselves and are not letting the experience rob them of their true personality, rather protecting it from time to time to ensure they stay sane and in control. It says more about what's 'wrong' with Alex rather than any 'defects' in the other three. I think the psychologist/psychiatrists/talk through their ar*e merchants need to get some professional help themselves! |

It does appear that we're having our minds made up for us, in some way I feel the result is pre destined..hello, isn't it a case of "you decide!"
And as for those shrinks..what planet are they on..one analysis too many I think..they're seing things that aren't there for god sake!! Masks slipping..false smiles(nerves) they forget it's a GAMEshow and games are to be played..aren't they?? ![]() |

I didn't think the psychologists were that unbalanced in their views at all BUT I take it all with a pinch of salt, especially after a couple of crackers last year re: Paul and Helen
ie Week one: Helen tells Dean of her dream of being trapped in a bedroom with Paul, who won't let her out til she says she likes him Psychologist: Helen obviously recognises something in Pauls character which reflects something she doesn't like about herself Dermot: Don't you think she just might fancy him? Psychologist: Oh no, quite the opposite Anyone with any sense will make up their own minds about these housemates. It's not the Nobel peace prize, it's a game show. The stakes financially aren't even that high. I mean, GMTV are offering an £80,000 prize this week on their phone in. The psychologists are perhaps being presented with fiercely edited stuff themselves remember. It's not a scientific experiment. It's a cruel, manipulative, voyeuristic, gladiatoral endurance test. This year, more than ever, they are in the lap of the Gods. The producers are playing with them like Zeus and Hera played with Jason and the Argonauts. They are showered conversely with manna from heaven and famine. They are plied with copious alcohol. If they weren't all in there voluntarily it would be scandalous. Don't get too upset by the psychologists. Some of what they say is true, some is mistaken. The only thing we know for sure is that people in extra-ordinary situations will act extra-ordinarily. However their natures do shine through. I didn't take the 'smile hypothesis' about Kate as a criticism or an allegation of falseness. I took it as pointing out that Kate was apprehensive and putting on a brave face. I would have been too. |

I think a lot of the stuff the psychiatrists say about the housemates can be pretty spot on. When they talk about Jade acting the 'baby' , it is true I think by the way she sits on the diary room chair, its little things i find interesting, I like hearing that kind of stuff, it just interests me.
But I do take it with a pinch of salt and never let it influence my voting. I think anyone who does, would be silly, you should make up your own minds. ![]() |

Psychologists are like fortune tellers. Talk a lot of mumbo jumbo guess work and by the the odds of probability sometimes get it right. The psychologists then like to forget when they get it wrong. Take them with a giant pich of salt. Why they get paid I will never understand...... I'll have to ask my therapist!!!

The problem is that we may see through them, but by using the packaging of science, the average punter, especially those with out net access or access to E4, will swallow it hook line and sinker
![]() I am reminded of a book I have read, "How to lie with Statistic" by Darrel Huff which showed how the presentation of statistics could be manipulated to give a false impression with out telling an untruth. Sometime it is only the few of us who have moved in the circle of the gods with white coats, that can see that someof them are selling snake oil to the gullible masses ![]() BTW what has happened to the forum ? |

Sticks is right, most of us can come to this forum, discuss things between us, and even though we may have our favourites, at least we get the other point of view.
Those who just see C4 only get one point of view. That is democracy, Franco-style! |
