Default family of 6 killed! killer sentenced!

The killer of the family of 6 has been given just 3 YEARS! he killed them when his lorry crushed their car! All 6 family members died mum, dad and 4 children!

What is happening to our justice system if it's only 6 MONTHS PER LIFE!!!!

I am appauled by this! and had to post my concerns!

Was it not an accident? Of course he will get about that long/. Unless he was driving under the influence.
I actually think 3 years is excessive. Its involuntary man slaughter.

He knew the risks and should pay the price for his actions that killed a whole family of 6.. 6 lives he taken, 6 lives that was robbed of life from a careless scumbag on our roads!.. Oh and he will be out of prison next year.. Thats the price with killing 6 people in the UK. Justice for who?

The sentence sounds very harsh if it was just an accident

Basically, there was a pile up in front of him, that stopped traffic. And he came around and hit the cars that were stopped on the Highway. He probably wasnt paying 100% attention or that to happen. BUt from what I hear, the pile up happened way before, and authorities were at the scene. Plus it was bad weather. SO they shoulve put warnings on the interstate, miles ahead of that. I think his sentence is alright.

After reading those details I definitely think the sentence was harsh, I wouldn't have given him a jail sentence.

This happend some months ago, and taking your eyes off the road to look at a laptop while driving a HGV is no accident!!
He knew the risks and killed 6 people... Manslaughter! Next year the scumbag is free! Yey.. While the family of the killed have to live with the heartache of never seeing them again, when christmas comes they would have bought toys for the kids, birthdays etc... No! All robbed from them and today there was no justice for the 6 killed... I hope the scumbag wilk always have the images of the family in his head when awake and asleep for the rest of his life.

He was on his laptop, his eyes was not on the road, he killed so that makes it manslaughter! Go look at the pics of the family and then say the sentence is alright!

bla bla bla. People have tragedies all the time. Its no reason to try to ruin someone's life because an accident happened. The fact is, he didnt mean to kill anyone. He did not fail a sobriety test, ANd there is no evidence to show he was looking at a laptop. He had one in the car, but there is no evidence he was looking at it. And anyways, I put the blame on the traffic control. When you have a pile up for hours on a motorway, oncoming trafic should be warned miles ahead. 3 years, I think is a bit excessive, but given the fact that he hit them, am thinking he wasnt paying a lot of attention. If youve driven long distance before, you know what I mean. You get in a zone because its so monotone. Never the less, I think the sentence is pretty appropriate.

thats the argument of prosecutors, because there was a laptop in the car. Its not against the law to have one, just like its not against the law to have a GPS. Lorry drivers have those things to plan their routes. Doesnt mean he was looking at it on the motorway!

If he's been sentenced then could they prove he was using it, or not?

I haven't seen this story before so I'm clueless on it.

They couldnt prove it. If they proved that he would get a lot more than a 3 year sentence.

They explain the sentence by saying that he shoulve seen the pile up from far away, and therefore he shoulve had time to stop, so negligence basically. I think its fair enough, but people saying he should be ut in jail forever and that are just over dramatic.

i'm sure in this day and age they can find out everything they want from the laptop if needed.his log in times, sites visited, email, everything.not sure if they can prove it was being used,if just switched on!!!

Very heartless of you... Taking your eyes of the road is no accident, any normal sane person person knows that. He had his laptop on while driving his 40ton truck that he does for a living and he should know all the rules and risks on the road with being a hgv driver.. If he was not looking at the laptop then he would have seen the traffic well before the point of impact, the point he hit the car was on a straight part of the motorway, in fact the straight part was some miles, if he had his eyes on the road he would have seen what was infront of him for a good distance given the road was on a straight part and with him being in a truck that is far higher than a car, the view is better and can see further infront... He was on the laptop while driving a 40ton truck, he broke all rules with driving and manslaughter charges should have been acted.

SO youre saying he was driving a 40 ton lorry on the motorway, and looking at a laptop, not seeing the pile up, which means he wasnt looking at the road at all! I wonder how he kept this huge lorry straight on the road. Or maybe he has auto pilot then!

That doesnt make any sense whatsoever. The only reason the sentenced him, is to appease the family probably.

I feel sorry for the bloke, knowing that you have killed a whole family on your conscience it would be really hard to live with im sure,

and since he has been put in jail it will be hard for him to find work after id of though hes going to have it tough for a long time now.

It is easy to keep a lorry straight on a straight part of the motorway without looking, some take their eyes of just for few seconds.. All depends of load and wind (i was a driver for a clothes company) His laptop was on while driving the lorry, on the straight bit of the motorway he would have felt it safe to check is laptop.. But with that he is breaking the law and putting other road users at risk.. When your in a truck you can see further down the road day or night, if he was looking down the road he would have seen what was comming long before and would have time to reduce his speed safely due to the air breaks, but his never did that, his eyes was on the laptop..
Now i aint say he should be in prison for years and years but 3 years only means he will due 18 months and will be out next year.
