Default X Factor star Ruth Lorenzo to take on charity Race For Life

X Factor star Ruth Lorenzo to take on charity Race For Life
X FACTOR' S Spanish senorita Ruth Lorenzo is following judge Cheryl Cole's lead and putting on her trainers for charity.

But while Cheryl is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief, Ruth is taking on a slightly less energetic task. And she has roped in fellow X Factor singers JLS to help her train.

Ruth, 28, was unveiled as an ambassador at the launch of Cancer Research UK's Race For Life yesterday.

She is taking part in this year's 5K run and is part of the If I Can Do It campaign, which highlights how anyone can take part in the races whatever their age, shape, size or fitness level.

Ruth, who admits she is really bad at running and needs to do some training, says she's already been getting some tips from boy band JLS.

She said: "I'm training with them. We've been going for jogs."

Ruth decided to help the cause because she's been moved by the plight of patients in the various hospitals she's visited during the X Factor tour.

She visited a children's hospital in Aberdeen and said: "I've always been very involved with cancer charities, not because my family has been affected or anything like that.

"Cancer can affect your life directly or indirectly and I don't know what could happen tomorrow. All the research and attention is amazing and unbelievable. I've always been very healthy."

Ruth is looking forward to playing Scotland again on March 15 when the tour comes to Glasgow.

She added: "Aberdeen for the start was amazing and we are having alot of fun.
"It's really great to be back with everyone on tour."

When the gigs finish, Ruth will be moving to London, but not to share with X Factor winner Alexandra Burke.

The girls were reported to be moving into a luxury penthouse on the banks of the Thames, but Ruth denies that was ever the plan.

The Spanish-born singer told the Razz: "No, no, We are not sharing a flat. It's not true. It was just a rumour.

"We've been so busy, the both of us. I want to move out of Surrey after the X Factor tour, but Alexandra is going to New York and Los Angeles to record.

"I might bring my family with me, like my niece or boyfriend to be with me for a bit.

"I still live with the same people from before the X Factor, but I will move to London. Alex and I will be close and we will be able to go out to dinners and things like that when she's back in the UK, but she's going to be quite busy."

Ruth is waiting to hear what will happen with her own career after the X Factor tour comes to an end.

She said: "I am just on the tour and, when it finishes, I guess everything will settle a bit and we'll see what happens."
