Default TiBB Moderator Elections 09 / Party One\'s speech

Below is Party One's full speech for the first TiBB Moderator Elections.

Quote:
We want to listen to the members, so we will do any changes necessary to please the members. We plan to do this using a number of proposals which we hope will improve the forum both for you, and the running of it for the moderators. There is one larger policy which all of our policies will contribute towards- the “positive forum policy”.

At times, we all want to say something inappropriate for the younger members. Recently there have been calls for an 18+ forum where older members of the forum can go and discuss anything, and say anything, without being warned by a moderator or feeling bad for posting something inappropriate for younger members. Well we plan to make this a reality. Our first policy is to lift the restrictions on language and topics for conversation, and we will do this by making a 16+ forum. Now I know what you’re thinking, it’s a 16+ forum and not an 18+ forum. Well we think people 16 and over are old enough for some of the topics, and a huge section of the forum are aged 16 and 17, so we like to cater for everyone and not leave particular age groups out of something that could benefit them! But because we don’t like to leave out particular age groups, an exclusive 15 and below forum will be made for the younger members to discuss things which they may feel could be ridiculed by older members! This also means are listening. Members with a voice who are treated equally are happy members!

Our next proposal is something close to the hearts of many of forum members. Everyone hates it when an appreciation thread is invaded by ‘haters’, only for petty arguments to spill out onto the forum. We propose to ban negative comments from appreciation threads to stop petty arguing. The way in this will be done is by creating a new appreciation section where all negative comments will be deleted which will be treated as a rule break with the member given a warning. But as you already know, we don’t believe in people out on the forum, so an ‘unappreciation’ section will be made where people with negative opinions on a particular person or thing can go and air them! And the same rule applies; if threads are invaded by fans then they too will receive a warning! This is so fans can avoid negative comments, and so ‘haters’ can avoid positive comments which will lead to a reduction in conflict, so a more positive forum!

Don’t you just hate it when the line up for a new forum game has been announced, and guess what, it’s literally the same line up in the past 5 games? Well, our next policy would change all of that. We would like to introduce a new rule to restrict the amount of games each member can sign up to each year. Now I know what you may be thinking, “that’s not very fair”- especially if you’re one of those who plays a lot of the games. Well, the rule would only apply to the larger games. This could have various advantages for the forum and for the games themselves. There will be more vacancies in games which means perhaps new members or those who wouldn’t usually do this kind of thing will find the confidence to join a game. Games will also cease to be popularity contests- which is a big forum complaint. This will inevitably mean there are more active users on the forum and it would be an easy way for them to make friends. It was horrible when you signed up and knew no one, wasn’t it? Hopefully this would help new members ease into the forum and we could find out more about those quieter members!

Being a moderator is a hard job but sometimes a fulfilling one and a job wanted by many. We promise to introduce a “guest moderator” policy so that members can have the chance to be a moderator, and appreciate how hard it can be. Members will vote weekly for who they would like to be the “guest moderator” for the following week. This would benefit the forum because more and more members would see how hard the job is and may appreciate the time the admins and moderators spend making sure the forum is a good place for the rest of us to be. It could also lead to a reduction in silly and pointless arguing which floods threads which we all hate because people would be reluctant to do it because they know how much effort is put in to avoid things like this. This would contribute to our “positive forum” image that we hope to spread.

And now, moving on to our final policy and idea, perhaps our most controversial, is a validation period for all new members. We all hate it when annoying chavs sign up to the forum with names such as “omgbbizdabest” who are so incoherent they can’t string a sentence together without using text speech. Well, not anymore. Our final policy is “member validation”- a period where the members of the forum get to vote on every single new member. After 3 days, if the forum has allowed them to stay then they can and will become fully fledged members, but if the members have spoken and decided that the member cannot stay, then they will be banned with immediate effect. We think this would be an advantage for the forum because it allows the members to have some form of authoritarian control over the forum, it allows the members to become more interactive with the main forum decisions and it lets the forum members decide who they will be speaking to for the next few weeks, maybe months or perhaps even years. Big Brother really is watching!

If you want more control, opportunities and positivity, then don’t waste your vote. Think positive, vote us.

I don't know if we're allowed to post in this topic? If not, let me know and I'll delete the post, I don't wanna ruin your thread LOL.

Anyway, the first post is far too negative. It's "we all hate" and "don't you hate it when" and "everyone hates". Fair enough, they want change - but they sound domineering and frankly not very endearing. Who are they? Hahaha.

It's part of TiBB Does The Apprentice. The two teams are competing in the 'Moderator Elections' and the one that gets the most votes wins.

It's just for fun - the winners don't become real moderators.

It would of been better if people from the groups didnt comment as now I know which one is which... it will end up being a popularity contest.

The last idea is probably going to lose a lot of votes.

I think its a bit unfair that some people are informing us as to which party speech belongs to which people!

I like most of the idea's on here, and I actually agree with the last one too.

The last idea is an awful idea, it could prevent great forum members joining, like my situation I didn't talk for a year, i talked a few times and got told off each time, but I have developed into a frequent poster.
