That does not take into account whether or not God is real, that is simply an argument that if God exists, clearly these things do not go against "His word" because He allows them to exist still.

I just think people need to learn some common courtesy; those morons have no respect for anything, I mean picketing is one thing but picketing a funeral? It makes me so angry that people could have such a lack of respect to intrude on a funeral. It's groups like them that ensure I'll never truly respect religion, I respect people who are religious, so long as they do not try to impose their views on me, because I find their commitment to religion absolutely brilliant, and whether or not God is real, I think any kind of long term commitment like that is always a good thing.
The argument is apparently because God has given us free will to do what we like (although that completely contradicts the idea that God has a plan for us all) and we will appreciate the positives more because we know what the negatives are like. Thats as well as this world being some kind of "test" for our morals and whether we go to heaven, hell, purgatory or whatever, although God is also apparently merciful which means everyone will redeem themselves and end up in heaven. So when you're dead and in heaven, say hello to Hitler for me.

Good Point Tom.

I believe in God in a strong way. But i'm not the type to convince people otherwise because i can understand why people don't. About the debate, i think that God isn't really bothered tbh. I know the Bible speaks out against that sort of thing, but i really think that God is more interested in a person's holy spirit that a person't sexuality. Just my opinion.

I agree with this.

However I can see why some people don't believe in God, it's their way to see life as much as believing in God is mine then I do respect that.

I'm agnostic, I don't follow any religion but I believe there MAY be something more but I'm not gonna worry about it. The only way you'll know for sure is when you're dead. Nobody has the right to to force their religion or Atheism upon another person (Arista here's looking at you buddy).

I really hate the Westboro Church. It's such a stupid message, I believe in karma so one day they'll get their just desserts. I feel sorry for the kids as the parents are doing nothing but alienating them from having a normal life but bringing up with the rubbish they spout. At hte end of the day I believe in free Speech so let 'em spout their rubbish. Most people will have the sense to laugh at them and look down upon them.

It said she can understand why people don't.

By the way; my viewpoint on this.
The people saying "God hates fags" aren't Christians airing their views. It's homophobes airing their views, and attempting to justify it by slanting religious contexts to their favour.

If they didn't have the platform of religion - they'd still be homophobes - so I can't find myself blaming religion in all of this.

Yes, religion does somewhat push the fact that homosexuality is a sin - but this does not mean people should shun or attack those which choose this pathway. This is why these people are way beyond religion.

Also; to make it clear - I am not religious myself.

I don't know if there is a god or not..Seems unlikely but strange is existance anyhow so anything is possible......What I do know however is that religion divides people more than it unites..... What i do know is that religion is used to control people by using the fear and so called law of god......

I also know to believe a single entity "God" created all is a very one dimentional simplistic way of thinking.......

Unless religious enthusiast go beyond such one dimentional simplistic thoughts then the theory that explains our being will never come to pass .......

Although I find the Westbro lot repugnant, I have to ask (as an atheist and bi) the religious people on here, what give you the right to question how they interpret the good book. Who knows, they may have it right and God might be well hacked off with the rest of you.

On the whole religion thing. I always like to post this little ditty as it sums up exactly where I come from.
