It's about being different really. When they first did it for BB5 it was fine because it was different to the past and fitted the concept well - but then we've seen relatively small houses each year since - even last years seemed small due to the layout. It just needs opening up a bit to feel more open plan, and hence different to the last few years.

I think really a BB house should fit into one of two categories - either very desirable so viewers would like to live there, or the complete polar opposite so nobody would want to live there, but we'd like to see others enduring it.
