Default Who Remembers The Dolly Rockers?

Well they appeared in the 2006 series The X Factor when they were sweet little girls! They almost made it to the final 12, but sadly didn't

Well they have TRANSFORMED! They have a great new style

They recently had an interview with digital spy and that's where they came to my attention! Here is that interview..

Quote:
When it comes to pop groups, do you choose personality over showbiz polish? Do you like songs that make you chuckle to yourself on the bus to work in the morning? And if a group sang about a girl with "refurb t*ts and a turned up nose", would you have an inkling who they were talking about? If you answered "yes" to any of the above, it's time to meet the Dolly Rockers, three girls with plenty to say and a wickedly entertaining way of saying it.

What are the Dolly Rockers all about?
Lucie: "We're about having fun, being yourself, voicing your opinions, not having to be perfect all the time and being a bit cheeky."
Brooke: "We're three very real girls. Because we're not manufactured, we're lucky enough to be able to express our opinions through our music."

How did you all meet?
Lucie: "We went to an audition in The Stage about three-and-a-half years ago, but that was for a completely separate project. We left the manager who put us together because he was a bit useless and we wanted to take things into our own hands."

Where did the name come from?
Lucie: "We weren't even thinking about names at the time, but one day I was wearing this T-shirt from a vintage clothing company called Dolly Rockers. We just thought, 'Oh my God, that would be such a cool name'. We're a bit Dolly-ish because we've got big hair and crazy outfits but we're also a bit edgy."

You nearly made The X Factor's final 12 in 2006. What happened afterwards?
Brooke: "No, they were our evil twin sisters!"
Lucie: "Someone from X Factor introduced us to a couple of songwriters, Ray Hedges and Nigel Butler, and we begged them to work with us. It was our last hope because we were devastated after X Factor. We spent about a year-and-a-half going back and forth to Jersey to work with them - it was a very slow process because we all had jobs at the time and could go only go for one week a month. But once we found our sound the songs kept coming and we got a manager on board. We got our deal at the beginning of the year and it's just gone so quickly since then."

Looking back at The X Factor, do you have fond memories?
Lucie: "It was fun, but we're so grateful now that we didn't get through to the live shows because we wouldn't still be together. It's very rare for an act to get huge off the back of X Factor unless they've got some raw, amazing talent like Leona. We never claimed to have that. We're very good at songwriting and we're bubbly characters..."
Sophie: "...We can sing very well individually though. If you gave us a Sugababes song, we could do it equally as good. But our stuff is more about attitude - we don't have singy-singy kind of songs."

What do you have that other girlbands don't?
Lucie: "We want to make it more fun. Other groups out there give young girls nothing to aspire to, because we can't have all have sexy clothes, perfect bodies and perfect hair. We want it to make it easier for girls to join in - anyone can be a Dolly Rocker."
Brooke: "Jimmy Carr's a Dolly Rocker!"
Lucie: "What are you on about? You mean Alan Carr."
Sophie: "We relate to the Spice Girls because they had so much chemistry and you could see they were genuine friends. Other girlbands, put them in a room together and they don't give a sh*t about each other. It's five girls who come in, do a job and go home."
Brooke: "With us it's more of a lifestyle. We all live together."

Your track 'Je Suis Une Dolly' is available now as a free download from your website. What's it about?
Brooke: "Going out, having a beer and having a laugh. It's about funny things that happen on a night out, because every girl has fallen over and flashed her pants or come out of the toilets with her knickers stuck in her skirt. Other girls sing about looking pretty or having a broken heart - oh, boo hoo! - but this is more real."

Your first proper single's called 'Gold Digger'. Is it based on a particular girl?
Lucie: "It's about people like Chantelle, Chanelle, Shanoo... girls who don't use their brain and just want to be famous. We feel strongly about this because they're really bad models for young girls. If you get a group of 20 16-year-old girls, five of them will say they want to marry footballers or be glamour models when they're older."
Brooke: "We want to show them working can be cool, not just being famous for the sake of it. We wear lots of make-up and short dresses - the whole thing is we're meant to look like dolls - but at the end of the day we're not slapped on the front of a mag with our nipples out. We work hard and we're sending out a positive message."
Lucie: "If you've got an album or a film coming out, fair enough, do an interview. But with someone like Jordan, all she's ever got coming out is a baby. It's just so sad."
Brooke: "She turned anorexic for press attention, then she had a sprog, then she went over to LA... what else has she got to do? I know, I'll break up and that will be a big story. Then I'll get back with him and that can be a double-page spread in OK!."

When do you shoot the video?
Sophie: "Within the next week. We're trying to get Matt Lucas in the video."
Lucie: "Have you seen the new Rock Profiles pictures? He looks so funny dressed as Jordan that he just has to play the gold digger!"
Brooke: "That would be so much more comical than getting some model and dressing her up like a Wag."

Is the Dolly Rockers album finished?
Lucie: "The majority is, but we want to keep working on it. We've got about three songs that are amazing but the choruses need changing."
Brooke: "And we've got a ballad that we really want a rapper on. We want Dizzee Rascal or..."
Lucie: "... Mike Skinner, because the song's so like 'Dry your eyes mate'."
Sophie: "The album will either be out at the end of this year or the beginning of next, depending on how well the singles do."
Here is their first single, Je Suis Une Dolly.

What does everyone think of them then? I LOVE THEM! A one to watch me thinks!
