I've seen enough of the live feed to know that it's been a waste of space at times. It's a hell of a lot better than nothing though.

I can't stop you ranting on, (and it is funny as I can empathise to a degree) but it's completely incorrect to dismiss it's usefulness altogether.

The problem for your point though is that I never dismissed it as being nothing. I love the feed, and I will be watching it on E4 during the nights this summer. But it is edited, and I had to point out the irony of that, given a lot of members main argument is that the live feed is some completely unedited, golden shiny tube of hope to see what goes on inside the house.

There is some confusion of terminology here.

The live feed is censored to meet the editorial policy imposed by Channel 4.

But it is not edited to change the time frame of the events taking place in the house. When the unacceptable material finishes we return to the action "as live". Viewers are well aware of that when sitting through the cutaways, soundips and stock shots.

That's a whole different viewing experience from just having the highlights package, which is skillfully edited to create storylines and give a dramatic structure to the show.

This leaves two thirds of the day with nothing new to discuss.

But what some people can't grasp or accept is that the live feed was incredibly edited too. When discussing the live feed now it has gone, rose tinted glasses really does spring to mind.

No, it is not just edited to meet editorial policy. Certain tasks, convorsations, and fights - bad language or not - are edited out to be saved for the highlights show.

I still don't understand where people are trying to go with this LF edit rubbish.

LF+next day's highlights = tons of coverage. The two aren't mutually exclusive you know!

The SD's really detract from the live show.
Which also feeds an interesting point most live feed fanatics still dont get...

THE LIVE FEED IS EDITED.

Seriously, the amount of people going ''we get to watch raw 100% housemates!'' is unreal. No you dont. You get to watch, like a naive muppet, a half arsed live feed that merely acts as a playground for the production team to take bits out, add in sound dips, or focus the camera on a box for twenty minuets while you watch on like a robot.
We're not that daft, we all know the live feed is on a delay and edited. If you are happy to watch 45 minute highlight show then fine, but thats not for all of us. I watch because no matter what time of day or night i can watch what (if anything) is happening in the house, I and many other fans are not interested in watching a cheap soap opera.

Without LF the producers could be throwing the HMs a script just to fill the highlight show. Still if you're happy with that then sobeit

The live feed is good to have on like in the back ground when your doing other stuff, cause you can take a glance and see what all the other housemates are up to.
but i wouldnt sit there and watch it like any other tv show.

So do you think every thing we see on the highlights is factual?

It is my opinion that the producers can do whatever they like with these HM's during the day without live feed.

They can also portray them which ever way they like in the highlights, and often they do.

If I'm going to vote I prefer to get to know the HM's myself rather than Ch4's version of who they are.

I never said the highlight show is factual. Read back over my posts. Also, the producers could so what they wanted with the housemates anyway, live feed or no live feed. What difference would it make? Was the diary room ever shown on the live feed?

I never watched it because I found it boring but I appreciated its existence because it stopped the editors from being too manipulative. They could have made it entertaining if it weren't for the constant sound outages.

Why be so rude???? the live feed made a lot of difference to the people who watched or kept up to date on forums where fans wrote what was happening.

You only have to look at the low vieweing figures for CBB to know fans lose interest when they cut back on the very thingt hat made BB one of the top realty TV shows LIVE FEEtongue:

I personally wish the diary room had been shown on the live feed. Channel 4 works so hard to keep everything so secretive and I think it really works against them. The show would be much better if they were more open about things. Constant sound outages, not showing the diary room, and now removing the live feed completely. Why do they do it? What are they trying to cover up?

Oh please. Dont use that pathetic argument that the Big Brother rating drop can be attributed to live feed. Celebrity Big Brother always gets slightly lower than the summer show.
