Default Alot of TiBB members are always very positive about better BB ratings, but are we just kidding our selves??

Since BB8 the ratings have fell alot. The CBB final this year only attracted 3.5 million! and last years series average was only 3.4 million Yet alot of forum members (including myself) seem to think that this year is going to be better and get better ratings. I have this feeling before every BB, so are we just kidding ourselves, and will it just get worse ratings than last year??

I don't care about ratings so much except when they're so low that it starts to affect whether or not BB continues. I just want an entertaining show so that I can enjoy it.

I don't believe it'll have better ratings this year, personally.

I mean the entire reason the ratings are falling is because they're gradually taking away everything BB originally stood for, in the 'net transmissions, the R.B.L.F during the day... The actual talk ABOUT BB on BBLB etc.

But even then last years BB's daytime ratings for the R.B.L.F were bloody good and yet... C4 seem to want to pull the plug on absolutely anything remotely related to BB.

Well BB is definately in the danger zone of being axed, 3.5 million for a final is terrible, so is 5 million for the BB9 final. I can only hope that this years launch attracts at least 6 million-which the CBB launch this year did so fingers crossed

And there my point about people having sticks up their backsides is proven yet again.

I was talking about ratings... Am I not allowed to mention ANYTHING to do w/ the L.F whilst talking about ratings? - It's one of the FUNDAMENTAL reasons BB has been losing its viewing figures?

Besides the L.F was not the only thing I mentioned...

Jeeze, Louise... Chill out.

getting rid of live feed will NOT effect people tuning into the main C4 show at all! what are you blabbing on about!?!? the ratings have been dropping due to lack of interest in the series, not the bloody live feed-which btw i cant understand why you would want ot watch it all day anyway, its sooo BORIING! YAWN

Erm, it's actually been proven that the viewing figures began to fall around the time Big Brother started to slowly pull away from any other interaction with the house than the heavily edited HL shows...?

People got so annoyed when they finally came to the realisation that C4 were manipulating the show by screening only what they truly wanted people to see, people began to scratch watching the "Main C4 Show" altogether.

And tbh with people having feelings like that "I can't understand why you would want to watch it all day anyway, it's sooo BORING! YAWN" - I'm not surprised the viewing figures are falling.

I don't think the ratings will be that good this year I'm afraid. If they make a good start and keep the tasks and housemates consistent during the the duration of the series it will be a success.

First of all-Sherlock- the YAWN comment was about watching live feed all day (becuase it is boring to watch 97% of the time) the HL shows are edited for our entertainment becuase they contain the best bits of that day. Secondly where is the proof that ratings started to drop, oh and btw this is the first year without live feed, so how the hell do you know that it has affected ratings when it hasnt even happend yet!?!?

Firstly there's honestly no need to take a rude tone with me, this is an Internet forum where we're both entitled to our opinions and I respect yours, fully.

With that said, I know what the yawn was for... But you're mistaken in believing that the HL shows are edited for 'our entertainment' and not for sheeple control.

There are many things which at 2:30am I can't be bothered to think, which have happened throughout the past 9 BB's which were extremely funny, entertaining and not in the least unsuitable for Television either before nor after the Watershed but never once made it, to the HL Show.

They focus on situations they want you to see, to better a certain HM or make another look like a complete W^&$er. That's a fact and probably (I'll use your statistical number here) 97% of BB's loyal viewers know this.

As for your final comment, you have a point on that, granted. What I mean is they began to drop when things like planes and birds along with close ups of garden plants were introduced even when nothing bad/wrong was taking place (mainly 'interesting bits' they could save for HL shows) - The Freeview viewers lost 'interactive' altogether, Freesat the same as well as the removal of the Internet feed and when they began to chuck in adverts even on the R.B.L.F when E4 had them which was not how it was to begin with.

They have been slowly but surely diminishing the entire premise and concept of what "Big Brother" is supposed to be which as StensionHouse puts it, in their Youtube account

Quote:
Endemol lay down the premise of BB here: http://www.endemol.com/what/big-brother.html - As is clearly stated, the whole point of the show is that the housemates being watched and their actions broadcast ROUND THE CLOCK. Not for 45 minutes once per day in an edited highlights show.
So yeah... The viewing figures [For the HL show at least] began to diminish from those points onwards.

BB and CBB have two different audiences

For BB10 I'm expecting ratings to officially be at about 3.4m ... just slightly below BB9. I'm under no illusions we'll be seeing BB7 figures because it will be the worst rated, nothing to do with LF (it helps) ... just interest fading thats all. All shows have to come to an end and sadly, time is almost up for BB.

I know some people think no live feed isn't a big deal, but I think it will be the nail in BB's coffin. Even if no one watched feeds (which I don't believe), the "being watched 24/7" is a fundamental aspect of Big Brother. It's in the title of the show. If they don't improve in other ways, I predict a lot of fans dropping out this summer. And let's face it--fans are all that's left.

BB9 got a 3.6m average btw not 3.4m lol

i guess for BB now anything over 3m will be considered as good as it would be about 1.3m above the slot average. But we shouldnt think like that, remember the days where a HL show would get 7m!! (BB3 and BB5's later weeks).

Okay now as BB9 averaged 3.6m, for BB10 the trend of the decline will continue by about 300,000 bringing it down to 3.3m, and then the loss of the LF will result in about 200,000 further people. Add that all up and the BB10 average should get 3.1m imo, a drop of 500,000 from BB9. Now that would be the final nail in the coffin.
