Default Viewers are enjoying BB despite low Ratings

Reported on IBB:

"An Appreciation Index (AI) is a score between 0 and 100 which is used as an indicator of the public’s approval for a particular television programme. The higher the AI, the more the audience enjoyed the show.

Corporations look at the AI ratings alongside the viewing figure, particularly for low rating programmes.

Here are the AI figures for BB10 so far. In brackets are last year’s AI figures for the equivalent episodes:

Thu 4/6/09 21:00 Big Brother Launch Show: 68 (70)
Fri 5/6/09 21:00 Big Brother: 74 (74)
Sat 6/6/09 21:00 Big Brother: 75 (74)
Sun 7/6/09 21:00 Big Brother: 75 (72)
Mon 8/6/09 22:00 Big Brother: 73 (73)

For the first five days, both BB9 and BB10 achieved an average AI of 73. Viewers preferred the BB9 launch episode, however since then the BB10 episodes have rated the same or better than the equivalent episodes last year.

Here are the AIs for the remaining days. AIs for last year’s equivalent episodes were unavailable:

Tue 9/6/09 22:00 Big Brother: 72
Wed 10/6/09 22:00 Big Brother: 74
Thu 11/6/09 22:00 Big Brother: 73
Fri 12/6/09 21:00 Big Brother: 76
Fri 12/6/09 22:35 Big Brother: 78
Sat 13/6/09 21:00 Big Brother: 75

Viewers enjoyed the following five days more as they got to know the housemates, with the average AI being 75.

The eviction interview show rated with an impressive AI of 78; the highest available AI for any Big Brother episode since at least 2006. "

Looks like even though the ratings are low, there is a higher AL in BB10 than BB9 menaing people are liking BB10 more than BB9(except for the BB10 launch). This should proved that with LF and more of a buzz, the ratings would be higher.

I know, bless them.

If I didn't like something I wouldnt watch it, if I didnt like it anymore I would stop watching (Like I did with Shameless)

I certainly wouldnt waste my time coming online, finding a forum, registering just to say that its crap. Well done.

BB4 was the worst excuse of reality tv I have ever seen.

BB6 was the one to watch.

I'm enjoying this years series, but alot of my friends who watch it every year have said they just haven't got into this year. They said they don't think they've picked the right housemates, but I think they're quite good actually. Though, it still doesn't feel like BB without the live feed.

I'm really enjoying it despite its ratings! I like the tasks and the constant 'doing of things', its never boring they're always doing something in there!

personally i think that this series isnt as good at last years. im hoping it will get better.it said in the sun todasy that they will put in a new housemate.I hope they put in a really interesting charachter who has a really interesting secrest task(something like BB8s "Fake australian housemate). Right now it seems like the produsers are expecting the housemates to make the show interesting...(I thing the whole NON-Housemate thing was terrible)
