Default BB6 Ratings Down on Previous Years

Article here with fairly detailed stats on the ratings.

http://www.mediaweek.co.uk/articles/...igbrotherslide

Apparently BB6 had the lowest rating for 16-34 year olds of all six series.

I think, as it hints at in the article, that CLI made a bigger impact on BB's ratings that they had first expected.

Still, this year was fab and I'll definitely still be tuning in!!

I didn't watch CLI. I'm not surprised BB had lower ratings this year; in an attempt to make it more shocking and have more controversial housemates, they went way over the top, and ending up picking a bunch of sterotypes and some frankly not very nice people. I really got bored with it after Science left, and stopped watching it as regularly. The reason I stuck with it was so that I would know what everyone here was on about!

Completely agree with you Ruth!

After Science was evicted, I only watched it about 3/4 times a week. I had a genuine dislike for all of the housemates left in! Altho I did warm to Eugene in the end!

Tom.

I missed a few evening programmes, never saw any live feed for more than a few minutes..

All a far cry from when we sat up half the night to see if H&P would get it on, AND that year I went to work an hour earlier so I could see the live feed from 4pm each afternoon when I got home!

Didn't like the mix this year. There were a few good characters, most of which left far too early. There were some obnoxious characters who all stayed too long (including M&S) and there were the uninspiring who........won!

All this goes to show in my opinion is that when you try too hard to get outrageous characters it becomes a freak show for a couple of weeks. Then their front slips and you realise they are just fairly ordinary folks hiding behind a mask.

Much better to put in fairly ordinary folks and watch them metamorph into those who become slightly deranged, suffer delusions of grandeur or a persecution complex, want to achieve world domination, become wanton sirens, want their mummies, want their dummies, etc!

Celebrity Love Island was appalling television. The fact that someone as arrogant as the pathetic Jane Middlemiss actually won says it all, really.

I wish at auditions they would stop selecting "professional freaks" like Kemal and his high heels and womens clothes gimmick. he was an insult to those with genuine sexual confusion...Then lager yobs like Maxwell...A bore you can find on any street corner along with gobby Science another nobody of a moron.....Anthony (Mummies boy) another boring git. Along with a socially disturbed Tory (Derek) . What a selection.

I watched it and I watched in the vane hope it would get better or I would have missed an entertaining surprise or two...Had i been able to predict it was going to be so poor I would have stopped watching after the Eviction of "Mary".

I think many BB fans watched in hope and that is the only reason the viewing figures were what they are...They deserved to be lower. I feel genuine BB fans have been conned this year.

BB6 was a mix of childish gimmicks played on a bunch of boring wannabies.....A complete violation of the BB format compliments of CH4......

i completely agree. I understand why the ratings were perhaps lower as I think there was hardly anyone in the house people could like or identify with. Nobody was someone I would want to look up to and none of them were genuinly cool people. Everything I've said I excluded Science in

It was hardly a 'gimmick'. Kemal is effeminate by nature - only homophobic people would have a problem with that. Maxwell was no different to a million other lads his age. He likes to mess about and have fun, which is hardly a crime. And he also showed a very sensitive and caring side to his character on several occasions - unlike a lot of the other hm's. Science is a highly intelligent man, although admittedly he was on a wavelength that some weren't able to understand.

I don't feel 'conned' at all. Yes, there were far too many useless hm's this year, and the most entertaining hm's left far too soon. But it was still far better than either BB1 or BB4, and possibly BB5 as well.

BB is full of gimmicks full stop, and has been since it first hit our screens. That's why we watch it, after all. That's not a 'violation of the BB format' at all - it is the BB format.

It would be great to see some normal people given a go, rather than wannabe singers/pornstars/models etc.

For example- why pick Orlaith?? It was surely obvious that she just wanted to get famous? It was obvious to us from day one.

No CharlotteSometimes I am not homophobic. That is being as ignorant as those that play the race card when people may not like the personality of a person that is coloured but dare not say so because someone like you ignorantly jumps to wrong conclusions . Kemal is a fraud of the first order a dedicated look at me look at me exhibitionist. Like him if you wish don't ask me to do so. I won't.

As for Maxwell. You summed it up. just like a million lager louts lads. Nothing special to appear on any BB......Just a pain in the bum for society as a whole as they spew out across the streets blind drunk and senseless.....

It's hardly 'ignorant' - it's simply what your post suggests. You have now clarified the fact that you view those different from yourself with unwarranted prejudice. Using your assumptions as a guideline, a good 60 or 70% of the population are exhibitionists. Perhaps you should contact Channel 4 and suggest that next year's hm's are issued with uniforms?

I could be pedantic and say that he actually preferred cider, but that would be as immature as your feeble attempt to misquote my post. You seem to forget, or perhaps are entirely ignorant of the fact, that before entering the BB house Maxwell had a skilled and highly paid profession. So therefore, he would've actually been contributing a healthy amount to the nation through the taxation on his wages. Without 'pain(s) in the bum' like Maxwell, this country would be in a very sorry state indeed.

I think it's because last years mix had people that you could imagine being friends with in real life e.g. Dan, Shell etc. but this year, they picked brash stereotypes that somehow seemed unrealistic and cold e.g. Kemal's "colourful" personality!

I watched it once or twice, and it was truly awful. There was absolutely nothing that could be called entertainment on offer at all. And I really can't abide Jane Middlemiss, either. She takes arrogance to a whole new level.
