Here are the IQs of the remaining contestants, calculated from an IQ test they completed before entering Big Brother...

Freddie 125
Marcus 122
Siavash 99
Charlie 97
Kris 92
Rodrigo 89
Noirin 80
Karly 79
Sree 74
Sophie 60
Lisa 55
The above should be credited to Daffodil.
Even if they are very approximate it is amazing how Sree gained a place at university.
40 years ago Lisa and Sophie would have been considered educationally subnormal.
To be fair to them all I do think it is dubious each year how BB chooses a group which is of such low intelligence. Especially since we know they test them before it starts. The strain of some tasks and things like shopping lists must leave some of them very stressed.
Incidentally, Freddie at 125, would be amongst the lowest scores at Oxford University.

To put the above figures into context:
If the 11 HMs were representative of the whole population there would be slightly fewer than 2 with IQs below 85.
As you can see, there are, in fact, 5, almost half.
For any person of merely average intelligence it would be purgatory being surrounded 24 hours a day by such vapid conversation.
With the removal of radio,TV, newspapers and books there is little mental stimulation left to HMs other than conversation.

Kris sussed him.

It is the way Freddie was brought up.

Never be a MP, now.
Kris sussed what exactly?

(...snip...)
To put this in even more perspective:

The average IQ for the United Kingdom is 106. So everyone except Marcus and Freddie are below average IQ.

Here is how the mental health community break down the IQ scores:

Under 70 [mentally retarded] -- 2.2%
70-80 [borderline retarded] -- 6.7%
80-90 [low average] -- 16.1%
90-110 [average] -- 50%
110-120 [high average] -- 16.1%
120-130 [superior] -- 6.7%
Over 130 [very superior] -- 2.2%

So Marcus and Freddie are considered to have "superior" intellect. Kris, Charlie and Siavash are considered average. Rodrigo comes in just one point below the average range, but I would given him the benefit of the doubt as his English isn't that great. Noirin is low average. Sree and Karly are borderline retarded (although as English isn't Sree's first language, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is smarter than that. Probably average). And Sophie and Lisa would be considered mentally retarded.

Ok, so perhaps the description of mentally retarded isn't politically correct anymore. The newer versions of the above chart call it "borderline" and "extremely low" instead of the R-word. But it doesn't really change the meaning much.

Cybele, an interesting post. Don't worry about your use of dated language which might be considered offensive by some.
Just look at the perceptive response you produced in the succeeding post:
"kriss couldnt suss out the functioning of a light switch the thick tosser"

If you mean for the whole UK look at the table; if you mean of the HMs then it is 88.

Poor old Freddie is in a "damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't" situation. They nominated him for "keeping to himself, and not mixing" and yet bitch at him if he dares to be the same room as them, or worse, dares to say "hi" *GASP!* It's the most absurd excuse I've ever heard to treat someone the way they've been treating Freddie.

Isn't it remarkable that a quite ordinary man like Freddie who is not particularly attractive, either physically or personality-wise, can become so popular simply by being compared to a group of others.
