its not just long threads (but meet the members was also playing up) but i have noticed even fairly short ones like the F1 one has been doing it

Is meet the members getting closed to? That was A LOT bigger than the Elimination thread, and has more problems. There was no point in closing the Elimination one if nothing is being done to the others.
