Gunmen waited for footballer

A masked man lay in wait for an amateur footballer attending a training session before gunning him down in front of team-mates, police have said.
Ryan Musgrove, 36, was killed after the gunman opened fire after hiding in bushes at the playing fields in West Wickham, south-east London, on Thursday night.
Police said the gunman, wearing a mask and skiing goggles, had deliberately targeted Mr Musgrove before fleeing the scene on a mountain bike.
The gunman, who police estimate is aged between 19 and 30, emerged from the bushes at the Sparrows Den playing fields and shot at Mr Musgrove at least six times.
The footballer, who had been holding training sessions at the fields for the last month, died at the scene despite frantic attempts from his team-mates at Coney Hall Football Club and passers-by to save him.
Detective Chief Inspector John McFarlane from the Met Police described the attack on Mr Musgrove, from South Norwood, south London, as callous.
He said on Friday: "The victim has been coming down here for the last four weeks and holding training sessions for an adults' football team.
"He has come down here at around 6.30pm last night as usual with another team-mate. They have gone on to the field and met another player and the gunman has then come out of the bushes and shots were fired."
He added: "It was obviously a planned callous attack. The gunman must have known that his victim was going to be there."
Mr McFarlane said it was highly unlikely the attack was random and police were working on a number of lines of inquiry to establish a motive.
