I think Noirin seems like one of those people whose personality hasn't changed a bit since she was a kid - it still really shines through. She constantly goes on about herself and her own situations, and however bored she claims to be getting of her various stalkers, she still sits talking about it. Although she's good looking, I think her personality overrides that and makes her overall unattractive. I'm sure that Marcus is probably detesting Noirin's ways and personality by now, and it's just become the obsession without the love, and he's just treating it as a competition he doesn't want to lose.
