in a sense i see why one would feel sorry for marcus,personally i feel his obsession was his own downfall..it's not as if marcus had not been told by noirin on several occasions that they were nothing more than friends,he chose to persue so he set himself up for the fall..having seen marcus's antics with tom last night,in full i know marcus was hardly the paragon of virtue last night..

felt a bit sorry for him too ... for all his faults he does care about and look out for Noirin, and he is very perceptive where other people are concerned (although not his own relationship with her) and was actually spot on with Tom, who he felt was a threat.

Noirin's whole "confession" to him interestingly did not mention Tom, just dropped his friend Siavash in it.
