The difference is that for all he's done wrong, he obviously has genuine feelings for the girl, rightly or wrongly, whereas she has just used him to meet her own ends and is now telling bare faced lies to her ex about what has actually gone on.

I can forgive someone making a mistake, not someone who obviously has no concern for anyone elses feelings, and who is so self absorbed it's unbelievable.
