Not really, no. If they'd put all 15 of last year's shortlisted acts in the final, there'd still only be 4 or 5 with any real prospects. This year, had two places in the finals not been wasted on Chico and Philip, it could've been 8 out of 12.

It may be the X Factor, and that may encompass several different aspects, but it's still primarily a singing contest. I want to see people that can take a song and shake it up - make it their own and really deliver. If I wanted frivolity, I'd be watching Brucie & Co. on BBC1 instead.
