Marcus being Marcus was definitely the main reason. The LF with Bea and the way he exposed her pettiness and nastiness the night before the eviction also had an effect, again because Marcus did the right thing, and what we all wanted to see would happen with Bea, not getting her own way.
Freddie's verbal confidence did make some people turn against him. However, it was fairly obvious if you look close enough to see that it wasn't cockiness or even confidence, it was insecurity and fear that made Freddie verbal about staying. He had to be outwardly confident because of the abuse he was getting in the house. It was merely a way of putting a barrier between him and those ar*eholes who wanted rid of him. When Freddie talked about "being alive today, and alive tomorrow..." he knew he was going. He might have even played up the 'cockiness' factor to get voted out.
Freddie isn't as bad as some have made out and the abuse he took in the house from Bea & Co. was horrendous. He knew he was leaving and you could see that by the way he wasn't actually shocked when they said his name, it was more resignation. And he certainly wasn't shocked in the interviews or with Davina.
