It plays a major role I would say. My mum always taught me to be polite, grateful, respectful and treat others how I wish to be treated. Which is something I stick by.

I used to be quite a nuisance at 14/15 and so I was kicked out of home because she said it would teach me responsobilities. Something for years I hated my mum for, but looking back, if she hadn't have done that, I would have definitely gone down the wrong path, never would have gone to college or university, and would probably be a dead beat.

My mum also gives me hope because she is such a strong person bringing up 3 children alone after losing my father and my 2 brothers. She has taught me a lot and I would not be the person I am today without her, even if we do fall out sometimes.

Yes, well sort of, My mother brought us up to pretty much what was just said above^^, my dad worked from 10am until 7pm so he never had any say in what we did, then when my Mam died I got very distant from my Dad and fell in with the "wrong crowd" drink drugs, you know the score....but I realised I didn't want to end up being something that she wouldn't be proud of so I went to college and got my degree. Still hate my Dad though!

Of course your family moulds you. They are the only influences in your life until you start school! Early impressions last aswell!

Being a parent must be a hard job. Teaching wrong and right. Knowing when to relent and knowing when to stick by your guns. Taking the flak. Giving praise when due and vice versa a boll.ocking. Trying to steer you on the right path, but sometimes you have to learn by your mistakes.

I think that the way you are as a parent does affect a child as they are brought up. You are a role model. And I think that as long as you care for them and try to teach them values in life, then you are on the right track. They may hate you for some of the things you do, but as already said, they may come to realise in time that it was most probably for their own good. But then again I am not a parent, so what do I know.....

I think how you're brought up and the environment you're brought up in affects everything in your life. I don't think its any coincidence that kids tend to keep their parents background.
