True, but the fact that he worded it as "going home with my ten grand" would seem to imply that he wasn't giving it away.

My gut feeling is that this will have a very slight negative effect on Siavash's chances.

More than anything I simply cannot get over how he has managed to misunderstand the situation so drastically. The problem for him is that it casts his previous decision in a slightly different light, although personally I think he probably would have made the same decision even if had understood things correctly.

Yes, but alot of people on here were unsure about whether he would get the money or if the prize fund would get it, I don't see what the big deal is??? And so what if he would keep th £10k, I would

Oh don't get me wrong, I am discussing it from the point of view of trying to estimate how this will affect his chances generally, based on observation of how people are reacting and how it might be portrayed. Personally, I have no problem with anything Siavash has done here and it will not change my own opinion of him. I don't think he has done anything wrong. It is just a misunderstanding.
