To get maximum airtime and exposure to garner the sympathy of the viewers (and it worked). He is sad about having the leave the UK soon, and perhaps thinks if he can get enough support it will help his case. I hope he is not as broken as he appeared, but I still remember the way he manipulated situations in the house to serve his own ends, so I'll take it with a pinch of salt.

That's the trouble when you "Cry Wolf" too often - when it's maybe genuine, people will NOT believe you. I was watching the other HMs faces behind him, and the expressions were quite revealing, so perhaps they saw a different Sree before the show?
