Default Problem with the General Forum

When I post or read in the General Forum, it sometimes crashes. The pages simply stop loading. This does not happen in any of the other sections.

Any suggestions?

It's not happening for me.

What details of your computer and the browser you are using it might help James?

SP2 is the cause of many a misery cc. I had to re-format after installing SP2. It caused all manner of problems, and I finally gave up trying to fix them!

Type SP2 Problems into google, and you will get THIS. That will give you a few hours reading!

Not all of it computer hardware Stropz I have some tools too.

Sorry cc100 I can't get my machine to do it and I have the same software as you on my laptop. Even when I use the modem.

You could try cleaning out your cookies and the cache (temporary IE files) and see if that helps at all.

This probably won't work but... try going into Edit Profile and reducing the number of Topics Per Page and/or Posts Per Page.

That will make the pages load a bit quicker.

Mind you still don't think that will make much difference...

Thanks guys for the help.

I only installed SP2 as I wanted a free Firewall. Do you advise unistalling SP2 and using a free Firewall? If so, can you remind me of the name of a free Firewall download, please?

Ta.

If I were you, I'd think about getting rid of Service Pack 2. It caused us heaps of problems, I'm not sure if we replaced it with something else, but we've gotten rid of it.

try a disk cleanup. After installing pack 2 it will have taken more memory and certain things won't be able to function cos of it. Just delete loadsa unneccasry (howeva ya spell it) programmes and it should sort itself out.

I don't seem to get a problem on the forum however it takes FOREVER for my avatar to change when I edit it!
