I have noticed recently that Will Young hasnt been on tv as much as usual, and Gareth seems to be everywhere, he was called better than Will on the top 40, is this true? and am i the only one who cant stand his singing? i think hes very bland and more pub singing than professional! sorry!

ahhh i hate gareth!!!! hes an awful singer and plays on his "cute schoolboy" stammering image far too much. I dont like will much either but to give him credit, he sings mostly his own songs and has a way better voice, hes better looking too

I wouldn't quite call him a pub singer bbceleb, but I do agree that he is bland and not a patch on either Will or Darius.

In my Pop Idol he would have been fourth with Darius No 1, Will a close second, then Zoe, and trailing quite a way behind, Gareth.

Maybe Will is just taking a little time off for Christmas and New Year, and after all who can blame him.

TV Personality of the Year - winner

Record of the Year Show - runner-up
Royal Variety Performance
Who wants to be a Millionnaire (with Emma Bunton)
Top of the Pops Xmas Show

He also had the No. 1 selling single of the year (Evergreen) and his album was 18th best seller of the year (only out 3 months).

. . . . . . and now he's having a well-earned month's holiday.

OK, I'll shut up now. I'm sure Janette will have something to say as well, though!

Did I EVER say Gareth was better than Will? Of course not because he isn't. BUT that doesn't mean to say that Gareth isn't absolutely lovely as well.

I've said at least once before that I think there's room for both of them, all three of them, even, counting the gorgeous Darius.

I just happen to be a fan of all three.

I've not followed what's been going on between these two at all. I did hear a song the other day I thought was good. I said that's good who sings that, Gareth Gates I heard, blimey I thought.

I'm not disputing the fact that Gareth can sing, he proved that throughout the run of Pop Idol.

But since then, the only time I've actually seen him singing live is when he was doing the duet with Will, and that's only because Will refuses to mime. Gareth even mimed at the concert I went to.

He could be the greatest singer of all time but until he can be bothered to sing live and put efort into his performances he will NEVER be as good as Will!

All I know is what I heard on the radio, talking from a blokes point of view who couldn't care less who's the cutest or the most nice or whatever. I heard a song that I'd never heard before and it wasn't a cover version. I'm not bothered about miming myself he's made a record which is fair enough. George Michael used to do enough miming and it never did him any harm. I used to like top of the pops years ago, but when they changed that to singing live I stopped watching it as I thought most of them sounded bloody awful. All I know is if he writes his own songs get's them in the charts and their good enough and I've not heard them before, and I notice them, then good luck to the guy. Must be good if they picked someone with a bit talent. Might be a one hit wonder of course. But it's got an old sod like me noticing whats going on in the pop world and that makes a change.
