Default Davina to replace Matthew Kelly...for now!

Theres a story on Ananova that Davina will replace Matthew Kelly for the time being whilst he is in question.
Davina is getting a lot of TV coverage lately- she seems to be so popular - and I am not complaining! I say, 'Go Davina!' She's on the way to making a great name for herself in the TV industry.

I have nothing against Davina replacing Matthew Kelly for the time being. She is a great presenter and I always enjoy watching her on TV as she is such a professional.

However, I'd like to point out that Matthew Kelly has denied all the charges made against him and I, for one, hope that the accusations are false.

I think Davina would be great for this but like miriam think that this matthew kelly
story is very sad and I hope it turns out to be not true, although sadly I think the damage is already done to his career. There seems to be no innocent until proven guilty anymore.
Good luck to davina though

I agree Miriam. There does seem to be a bit of a witch hunt going on at the moment.

Well done for pointing that out, Miriam.

Remember the horrendous allegations made against the Hamiltons which were splashed all over the papers, then it was proved that the woman who made them was lying? (She's now in jail).

Also TV presenter Craig Charles was alleged to have raped a woman - again this allegation was printed in all the papers - and again it was proved that she too had been lying.

I think it's appalling that people's careers can be potentially ruined by scurrulous allegations, usually with no supporting evidence or proof behind them at the time. Surely there should be an embargo on releasing such information until they have been proved to be 100% true?

You're right, rachb - it seems to be 'guilty until proven innocent' nowadays.

Sorry for the rant, but I do feel quite strongly about this issue (not just in Matthew Kelly's instance).

On a slightly lighter note, good luck to Davina.

Davina seems to be on the TV an awful lot right now, and I know that she's popular and I certainly don't mind seeing her, but over-exposure damages careers!

Look at Carol Vordeman, she was on EVERYTHING for months and people got sick of seeing her, now you only see her on Countdown so she's back where she started!

I hope Davina doesn't go the same way!

There will always be the "No smoke with out fire" suspicion. That is human nature.

And there is also I suppose the "it is better to be safe than sorry" attitude, especially in this litigation culture.

With the seriousness of the acusation I was a bit surprised he was still doing panto.

It is not a case of guilty until proven innocent, today the presumption is "guilty even if a wooly headed jury says innocent"

Sad but that is how the world works today.

Looks like he is now considered guilty as sin by the Sun and Granada

See this link

He visited Shrilanka which has a reputation for unsavoury practices, so he must be guilty

The frightening thing is, that your credit card details can be stolen and used quite easily.

An associate of mine, who lives in Aberdeen would hitch down and crash at my place, especially when he had run out of electricity (So far he has not visited since the begining of September 2001)

He would stay a few days and incessantly play games on my computer and try and "repair" it. He would also take my life over. When I was in bed or at work, he would also surf porn sites and claim it is not porn but erotica.

One time I was looking at a statement and I discovered £18 pounds had been spent on something I could not recall. As thename of the organisation was a phone number, I rang it up to see who it was and discovered it was an Adult Internet Chat service , a service I would never use.

Somehow my credit card details were stolen and used. I then had to deal with the fraud section of my bank.

When I managed to get hold of ant-spyware software, it found and killed a suspect program.

It seems that one of the porn sites my so-called associate accessed may have planted a trojan horse which sent on my credit card details when I accessed my legitimate home banking.

I now use zone alarm to block these nasties.

The problem is, that these programs could be hiding in other websites, disguised as legitimate cookies.

I wonder how many on the list provided by the FBI were innocent victims of computer credit card fraud. Anyone of us could be caught out if we do not take adequate precautions.

I very much agree with the comments about these celebs should be treated as innocent until proven guilty. Just because the tabloids don't appear to believe in that principle doesn't mean that the general public don't have more sense.

That 'story' about Matthew Kelly's holidays to Sri Lanka is nothing more than an empty insinuation and I also hope the other allegations against him prove to be false.

I remember when I heard about the allegations against Craig Charles I was gutted because I am a fan of Red Dwarf, and those accusations were eventually dismissed in court.
Also, the science fiction writer, Arthur C Clarke - who lives in Sri Lanka - had to deal with allegations which were finally exposed as tabloid lies.

There is a big financial incentive for accusers to make allegations against public figures thanks to the methods of the gutter-press. One person, who is invariably involved in these stories, and I think we should be vary wary about is Max Clifford. He was the one who negotiated the story about the Hamiltons with the press, and symbolises chequebook journalism at its worst.
