In an attempt to lose some excess body fat (oh alright; flab, love-handles etc!!) in preparation for this year's holiday to Lanzarote, I'm thinking of taking up "Pilates". I was just wondering if any of you do this form of exercise and if the results are as good as they say!! I'm planning to buy a video which I've seen in the recent Avon catalogue and hope to be able to 'work-out' at least three times a week. I've been doing yoga for a month or two now and enjoy the benefits I get from that. I've never been one for aerobics (seems like too much hard work!!) so thought Pilates sounded more up my street. I'd appreciate any info please. Many thanks. |

Don't know that much about "Pilates", Di except that it is to do with getting your mind in tune with your body and practising "proper" breathing!
It certainly sounds a nice gentle way of exercising to me and, if the likes of Sharon Stone, Courtney Cox, Minnie Driver, Madonna and Julia Roberts all use it, then I think it's probably worth having a go. |

Well the New Year is here so I've started to do my Pilates Video at long last (it's been sitting in the box for a couple of months!).
I must admit, I'm quite enjoying it. It is all about concentrating your breathing and working your 'powerhouse' through the gentle(ish) exercises. I'm trying for 3 times a week too. I'll let you know how I get on. Good old New Year...it always fills me with enthusiasm! |

I do lots of exercise!
I walk to the kitchen (poor feet), open the fridge and take out a bottle of wine (poor right arm), drink it (poor stomach muscles in the morning!) Oh and I walk to and from the car EVERY day!!!!!! |

Thanks for all your info.
Good luck Feebs. It would be good to hear back from you sometime to hear how you are getting on. I have ordered the Pilates video from the Avon catalogue but will not receive it for another couple of weeks. Really looking forward to getting it. In the meantime, I will keep on with the yoga! |

No more excuses!!
My Avon "Pilates" video has turned up today. Have just finished watching it to get myself acquainted. I'm sure it's not as easy as it looks!!!!!! |

Good luck, Di.
I'll be exercising with you in spirit, while I lounge on the sofa watching Eastenders. Let us know you you get on. |

Hi Di
Just thought I'd let you have a quick update. I've stuck to my 3 times a week so far and must admit that I seem to be getting better. The exercises are quite simple but very powerful and you'll certainly feel as if you've had a workout. So have you started yet? I'm sure you'll enjoy it |

Actually, Feebs, I haven't started but I am really eager to.
I am just getting over a cold and have a nagging cough to go with it so I'm not in the right state yet! Well done you though!! I'd be interested to know which tape you have as I'd like to have a couple to work from. |
