he's not a better player than torres or raul though, it's not all about who scores the goals football's a team game

Of course its not, but it shows he was a good scorer, no real vids other than scoring ones..

He was a classy player

he is a great player not just a goalscorer he's a clever player aswell, but he cant make the same sort of impact on a game like a raul or a torres can.

I never said Lineker was bad- he's just not in the same league as Van Basten, that's all.

he had a good tournament in 88, and had a couple of good seasons for ac milan in a great and successful team, but never played in england (the toughest league in the world), didn't make an impact in any world cup he was in, and thats marco van basten

in 1986 scored 40 goals for everton (including 1 in the fa cup final) and then went to the world cup and was top scorer in the tournament with 6,

then his goals helped spurs win the fa cup final in 91

You do realise that Holland didn't qualify in 86 and lost to West Germany in the second round of 90, in a heated, confrontational encounter. The fact that Van Basten played at all during this period is amazing since he was blighted by a persistent ankle injury that eventually led to his premature retirement.

i'll give you dribbling abilty and mabye balance, but not the other two and lineker was more brave, a better goalscorer, and could hold the ball up as good as alan shearer could, so dont say van basten was a stronger player than lineker

LOL! Are you out of your mind? At the time Lineker and Van Basten where playing, the Calcio was the best league in the world. The Premier league only got the edge in the late 90's and 200os, when all the big investors started buying all the best players in the world, and when they stopped having limits for foreign players. Like Setanta said, Van Basten is in a total different league than Lineker. Average team? England arguably had their best teams in 1990.
Van BAsten was the best striker, in the world, while Lineker was playing, not only the best striker, but one of the best players in the world. ON the world stage he has a hell of a lot more titles than Lineker, European championships, clubs and country.
The european cup twice, supercup twice, the Italian league 3 times, World soccer player of the year twice, best player in europe 3 times. He scored more than 25 goals 4 times in the toughest defensive league in the world, and the best league in the world in the late 80s and 90s.

ANd titles aside, which isnt even close, Van Basten was a much more complete player than Lineker, anyone who knows football will tell you that, I am sure even Lineker would.

Its not even close.
