Default what does this mean?

Hi,

I am a bit confused by something, at work we have a database listing ALL the hardware in the school like computers and TV’s etc and when a something new comes in you have to add it to the database and then you have to select the status of it for example you can select:

OK
Damaged
Surplus

And my question is what does Surplus mean?

Default

Surplus means 'extra' in the 'more than you need' context.

So if something is 'Surplus to requirements' it means it isn't needed.
