Default FAMINE WORSENS IN KENYA VERY IMPORTANT FROM JOSH

Please take the time to read. Another natural disaster is happening whilst we live in comfort, please help wherever you can, either forwarding to others or by making a donation.

This is from a friend of mine working in Africa!

Josh

My Friends,

This appeal is live on www.icross.ie We are dealing with tremendous suffering and preventable disease right now. Yesterday a young girl who was too weak to stand, she was called Sikinan and had been starving for the past month. The situation has grown so serious that we are bringing in all our medical teams and asking you to help. I am asking every one of my own friends to personally help us now and am also asking them to share this appeal with everyone close to them. This is one of those rare times when every one of us needs to do something and the last time I asked all my friends to join in was another famine a decade ago. This is one of those times when we are needed and our actions are going to really make a difference today. We are in the villages already and have worked in these areas for 27 years, we can make a difference with your help. the place is the northern desert, the time is now,

mike

The appeal is below and its very very important you share it please

Emergency Famine Relief appeal Kenya

The famine has worsened dramatically in the northern deserts and southern plains of Kenya. ICROSS has worked among the Samburu and Maasai for 27 years and is working with the Government and local communities fighting the devastating effects of hunger and drought. There are thousands of lives at immediate risk in the northern and southern areas of this famine . Many thousands of children across the famine belt are falling into extreme stages of advanced malnutrition and marasmus protein malnutrition .

The Government of Kenya has declared the famine conditions affecting parts of the country a national disaster. 2.5 million people are threatened, almost 10 percent of the population, over the next six months. Help is needed for the provision of water for both people and animals, restocking of livestock and provision of seeds to farmers in preparation for the next crop season.

We urgently need your help now to provide essential micronutrients, water, rapid clinical care, and support for severely malnourished children. In Feb and early march we have seen over 70% of all livestock dying and 78% of water sources drying up. We are working together with the Ministry of health to reach as many families and vulnerable communities as possible and have put all our medical teams into the famine areas. We need to extend emergency support, diarrhoeal control, decontamination of infected drinking water, child survival and primary health in March and triple the number of people we are helping. We can not do this without you. We need your personal support now,

On behalf of us all, thank you.
