When Evans was working for Virgin Radio, he had already set up his own production company, Ginger Productions, its was quite successful producing a wide range of peak time shows that made him a lot of money. Richard Branson decided to sell off Virgin Radio to Capital, Evans got investors to finance Ginger Media group to be able to outbid Capital and ended up owning 60% of Virgin Radio. He subsequently sold Ginger Media Group to SMG plc for £225m.

Since then he set up UMTV which also made him a lot of money. He may not appear much but he has a business acumen unrivaled by many.

Because the BBC (for all its good points) has a habit of paying absurdly untalented people (Jonathan Ross, Chris Moyles, Jeremy Clarkson, Jo Wiley) absurdly large sums of money to appear in their television and radio shows.

Yep, true - very good at wheeling and dealing, fair play to him. Mental amount of money for one fella to have though.

He wasnt rich to start off with, just a loud mouth ginger with fake glasses and a large ego. Clever man though pushing himself forward as what people wanted even if they didnt realise it, then investing the money and developing the company he made.
