um if you had been alive at the time, which I seriously doubt you were because right now you're showing the intelligence and maturity of a 10 year old, you'd known that TV critics lapped BB1 up, praising C4's daring decisions and hailing it as a social experiment. It's only in later years they bashed it for being the trashy mess it now is.

He's been here longer then you so he just hasn't popped on to piss you off. The fact is that a lot of the regulars stay on for the non BB topics rather then BB, Gary's a fan but he's ultimately realistic. Enjoy this series but don't put your hopes up for a renewal because there's been more profitable shows that have been cancelled without a pickup by another channel.

Enjoy this series for what it is.

He's got a point that's why, BB has ZERO chance of getting picked up by another channel, at best we can hope for it to be revived in a few years which is the right way to go because if another channel buys it and then axes it after one series then it's dead for good.

There's so much negativity around here!

I must agree with both sides of the argument here. As much as I don't want to admit it, and as much as I hate admitting it - we all know Big Brother is dead right now. I would say its on its last legs, but I think it has gone beyond that point.

Big Brother is not coming back next year. End Of. We all know that. As has been stated, major channels/Broadcasters such as ITV, BBC, Five have ruled themselves out. At the moment, Five is currently for sale, and one of the companies bidding to purchase the channel is in fact, Endemol. If Endemol win the bid then of course, that is most likely the new home for Big Brother. But I don't think it will be back next year.

Upon saying that, I do believe the ratings still matter, no matter if it's the last series or not. The ratings are vital if another broadcaster is to pick the format of Big Brother up. As has also been stated in this thread, people who have not watched the show for years are going to be switching their TV's on to Channel 4 at 9pm on Wednesday 9th June. There has been a lot of hype around the very last Big Brother,more than usual. I can't hope and wish for nothing more than the show to really go out with a bang and to get good ratings.

As I have said, and I will say it again. Big Brother is not coming back next year. In a few years maybe, after the show has been re-looked at and things have been changed, maybe, and only maybe will a new broadcaster pick it up and bring the show back. It may just be under a new name and not "Big Brother".

I don't mean to be negative, I really don't. I am a massive Big Brother fan and if I could do anything to secure Big Brother I would do, but obviously I cannot. I am sure the rest of the BB fans would do anything to secure the programme and make it stable. As I have said, I don't need to get negative but we need to come back down to reality, and we have to understand that there is no life for Big Brother anymore. I wasn't happy when I heard channel 4 was axing the show, and I know a lot of people weren't at first, bit if you sit down and think about it, you will know it is the right decision. If you still sit there and believe there is still life in Big Brother, then all I can say is you have set your expectation far too high... and this is reality at the end of the day. Big Brother has done bloody well over the last 10 years. The show has been running for 10 full years now, 11 series after and 7 Celebrity Big Brother series after. Yes, the show has done very well in my eyes, but we need to let is rest now. And all I can hope for as I said at the beginning is that this series goes out with a bang and the ratings are good.

But, hopefully, Big Brother, or the format, may be back within a few years. Just keep your eyes peeled guys.

He didn't call you an idiot, at best he said you were being pathetic (which was more likely aimed at george then you) which really could be applied to this case. There's mountains of evidence against BB getting picked up again and it's annoying when members like George who know ***** all about anything think that because it's their favourite show that it'll get that magical renewal that's been denied to more successful and better shows in the past.

It's not gonna happen, be optimistic if you want to be disappointed but don't attack Gary or Spike or anyone else that's made valid points.
