Good question!! I know he had it back when they did the Heat interview 'cause he's wearing it in the pictures.
I'd like to think he deliberately left it so that Helen had a keepsake to remind her of him, and also it would be a good excuse for her to talk to him when she left the house, so she could give him it back.
