That my friends is Christi-bleeding-(ins)anity and no bloomin mistakin ! It’s amazing to think that a sandal wearing Palestinian from two millenia ago is at least partly responsible for a chubby bloke from Wales babbling on about Enoch-alation in his belly on Youtube to anyone who will listen. A lot of the time I’m not sure I really understand religion and half of my degree was spent studying the subject.

In some ways this disturbs me. In other ways it’s comforting. This man has so far managed to skip incarceration in psychiatric facilities. Sanity is clearly relative and I’m starting to feel a lot better about myself. Being happily mental clearly hasn’t hindered his career as such. In fact it’s been a positive advantage. Without his tentative grasp on reality and belief in a saviour who fills you with the spiritual equivalent of White Lightning and Special Brew if you only so much as ask, Dave might have ended up as a welder or working in an arcade on Barry Island. As it is he’s got to visit exciting places like South Carolina explaining how god’s love is like pixie dust. Two generations earlier Dave’s antecedents were probably down mines and teaching themselves about dialectical materialism on their day off whilst wearing donkey jackets. This has to be progress of a kind.

It can only be onwards and upwards for myself from hereon in. I just need to find an angle.
