it's for British acts isn't it?
I'd like to see M.I.A., Mumford and Sons & Groove Armada nominated. I reckon Corinne Bailey Rae, Laura Marling, Plan B and Marina and the Diamonds will get a nomination.

Hopefully Plan B - The Defamation Of Strickland Banks is such a great record, brilliant concept.

Out of them, I'd pick M.I.A. or the Gorillaz. The rest don't really appeal to me.
There are a lot of middle-of-the-road acts on the shortlist by the looks of things, but I'm not surprised.

Oh sorry, I thought you were predicting the winner, not the shortlist. I think you probably made a good guess though.

M.I.A and Gorrilaz should definitely get a nod at least, as well as Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling.

Surprised by Dizzee and Paul Weller. Then again, Dizzee's a former winner and Weller is a Mercury darling. Disappointing list IMO

Only Marling, Rae, Mumford or xx/Clyro are worthy winners imo. I would say Dizzee but that album is way too mainstream for him and doesn't showcase his raw talent off to the full.
I wished they'd have more diversity with genres, was Speech Debelle's win last year THAT bad that they couldn't find any decent 'R&B' or Hip Hop albums? |

ugh, as long as Paul Weller (boring), Corinne Bailey Rae (dull as sin) and Foals (evil) don't win...
Mumford or Biffy for the win.

Awful list, Dizzee Rascal but not M.I.A? No Gorrilaz whatsoever?
It's all very boring, I'm hoping for Laura Marling, xx or Mumford to get it. |

The fact that M.I.A or Gorillaz aren't on it really indicates how bad the list is. |

Basically no one had heard of Speech Debelle last year. Her album only sold 13,000 copies. When she won everyone was like '...who?'

Kit Downes Trio, Foals and Wild Beasts sound pretty good from what I heard. I don't care for the rest and hate Mumford and Sons.
Dizzee Rascal is really talented, but a little bit past it.
