This forum is terribley sexist - though I haven't noticed it as much lately - but plenty of members have called women names for behaviour they codone in men - I have called them up on it on many occasions!

Let me shock this by suggesting the public may be ANTI-RACIST in ways they have voted in the past.

A number of TiBB have (for many seasons) pointed out what 'appears' to be a sort of 'racism' in casting.
This is the complaint that some BB casting seems to believe that a person becomes 'different' and 'interesting' and even 'automatically intriguing' simply because they have black skin!
They are wrong,
but,
The problem is that sometimes a disproportionate number of dull, uninteresting, dark-skinned people get cast.
(and they can't be blamed for this either).

Some argue that what happens is that the public is actually the colour-blind one in this,
and,
if anything some argue they even 'fight back' by making a special point to vote out that person.

Now whether or not there is 'anti-racism' in most of this maybe that is arguable,
but,
in fact the public does show it will NOT acknowledge skin-tone after all nor will it play along with the idea dark-skin = interesting and cool HM.

Just throwing this out there for a different angle to think about.

I suspect that there are many people black and white that at times have racist feelings...I do my best not to prejudge someone based on thier appearance but my gut reacts quicker than my brain sometimes. for example I really hate rap music because i asscoiate it with hateful lyrics and a repulsive machismo, so then if i see a guy that dresses in that style and is black I may initially feel afraid...i'm pre judging him based on colour and dress. Fear becomes anger...however i'm aware that hate is something you hold in yourself....hateing someone is like swallowing poison and expecting the other person to die, so i try to work it out and work through it.

the older you get and the more people you meet, the less these stereotypes mean. Don't blame yourself for pre-judging since most live in huge anonymous cites where at times we feel we need to depend on a stranger. We quickly make a judgment call before asking a stranger for directions etc. Any negative attitudes you have to some people will lessen as you broaden the types of people who you get to know. What won't help is always knowing and mixing with people who are just like you. That turns into narrow mindedness since your stereotypes are never tested and you keep them for life.

btw.. your government and police do this too. If there is a serial killer they will 'suppose' he is probably a he and probably white.
