I see pictures of the old housemates and i feel kind of sad.
I feel like they were pulled out prematurely. I don't think we got chance to see them off properly before they were rushed out to make way for this ultimate big brother. I've only been half-watching this UBB because i don't really care so much about these guys after having a whole summer of josie JJ dave, and the rest. I am sure UBB is a good idea and would have been good just like any past CBB but to do it this way was really too rushed. it all seems like one big blur and to be honest i feel a bit shellshocked. the producers already started messing things up, they interfered way too much in the daily activities making it more of a variety show than a social study. each highlights show, I felt like i had not really seen much other than silly music videos of pointless tasks. I wanted to see some real relationships development. I wanted to see a minute of somebody staring at the door after somebody had stormed off in a huff. this is what big brother was for me, but it just felt empty. it seems like the producers of this show wanted to make this big finale... and in so doing, completely trashed the thing they were making a finale of. they made a mockery of it. more than anything i am sad that i didn't get to see off the old housemates and am left with the same house but a bunch of strangers. |

Well put and what you described is pretty much what kept BB11 from being my top series or even right up there.
I STILL have BB11 as a top fave and maybe my 4th best, but, Producers worked against excellent casting. Casting that was aimed at giving us the kind of people best discovered over a summer-long journey. Which would have been great. They had the potential. This is the most 'satisfying' season (and you describe that). But after the superb casting (with one horrifying mistake) but Producers seemed like they were determined to work against that. Or try to have it both ways with both deeper more ongoing stories, versus, also having 'wacky rotating and temporary characters'. Then messing it up more was too many coming and going and well late into the season where each time was like a 'restart' to the dynamic. And you called it - the premature ending. Just cut short with a big group still in there all unloaded one night. We missed so much of that 'natural arc' or when we say a 'season' thinking about that in that sense of a 'season of their lives'. That didn't really happen. And add to that the self-defeating gimmicks this time. Yes, I understand BB had a last season and wanted to try these things, but, it hurt the classic feel, arc, dynamic and the very things that help it along. People coming in from outside, conversations being repeated, people allowed outside, But yeah it really did feel cut short and 'chopped up' all over the place. The tragedy is this cast deserved better. |
