Default Watching BB 2001 I'm glad it's finished

This early show is how it was meant to be, a social experiment worthy of psychological analysis with quite a dry approach to it.

Sadly it turned into a live pantomine. If it kept true to its original format it would still be going in my opinion.

If they kept to the original format it wouldn't still be going at all.
Everything has a shelf life. It only took until BB4 for the novelty of the original format to wear off.
Then the second era "Evil" wore off by BB7 and BB8-11 was a complete car crash pantomime that got less popular with each series. Big Brother has died. Sad but true.

Just have to look forward to the next "revolutionary" tv show.

I agree with some points already raised, I also think the PC brigade has had a hand in the shows demise.

Back in the beginning, it was new, it was fresh, it was going in a direction that hadn't really been ventured previously.

These points also apply to many shows we see getting axed over the years. Each show tries to better it's previous season in hope of giving the viewers something exciting to watch.

With BB we had housemates going in, knowing exactly how BB works and I believe BB tried to change it's format on many occasions to try and keep in front of the housemates who thought they had the game sussed.

BB in its later years depended too much on "house next door" and shock eviction twists

I think the shock eviction twists were great when they were more subtle.
For example BB3's first eviction when they were told to choose on the spot, or when Stuart was evicted via the diary room in BB5.
It got too much when they overcomplicated twists such as the back and forthness of the Halfway House and the Guru twist.
BB was great when they had simple twists that had maximum effect.

I agree that the first couple of seasons were the best. Jade then ruined S3 for me - S5 was a marked improvent and then it peaked with S7. Downhill from there on in - although I did enjoy the final CBB.

That's why I was pleased that Brian and Nikki were the top two final final BB winners. Representatives of the very best seasons.

Justice ...
