GIRL group Sugar Bullet saw two of their singers walk out of X Factor's Boot Camp - after Simon Cowell demanded they change their image or quit.
The sexy five-piece were ordered to ditch their girl-next-door look and become trendy rock chicks. But members Laura Dougan and Erin Hone refused - leaving pals Kariss Andrew, 17, Kaitlin Burton, 17, and Wendy Buchanan-Daly, 21, to carry on alone. A show insider revealed: "Simon wasn't impressed with the group right from the off. "He didn't like the idea of five girls just standing there singing, doing nothing. "The girls wanted to make it all about the singing, but Simon does not see it that way. He looks at the bigger picture. "He gave them an ultimatum - sing from the same hymn sheet, or don't sing at all. "Laura and Erin didn't buy it, so they're out." The Glasgow girl band auditioned for the show in Dublin and were slated by show boss Cowell for being boring. He told them: "I think watching you lot in concert would be like watching paint dry. "It's kind of interesting for like a minute. I've just got a bad feeling." But the girls - who are all students at the UK Theatre School in Glasgow - got the thumbs up from Girls Aloud beauty Cheryl Cole. She told them: "I actually really enjoyed that. "I think that you're the best vocal girl group we've had so far." And the girls also wowed Louis Walsh and guest judge Katy Perry with their performance of Coldplay hit The Scientist. Their audition won them an army of fans, who were quick to defend them against Simon's jibe. But X Factor forums were filled with questions about why two of the girls had disappeared after the band's Twitter site listed just three members - and their Facebook page was stripped of its content. Advertisement One confused fan asked: "Why have Sugar Bullet suddenly lost two members?" Another wrote: "Sugar Bullet down to three... has there been a bust-up?" Last night 18-year-old Erin insisted she didn't regret quitting the band - who are thought to have held auditions for new singers - with Laura, also 18. And the teenager revealed she was now hoping for a career on the theatre stage instead of topping the charts. She said: "We sat down to find out where we were musically and personally it wasn't for me. I'd rather go down the musical theatre route. I'll never forget the auditions, they were a great experience. When Simon says things you take them with a pinch of salt." Sugar Bullet - rank outsiders to win the show at 125/1 - are at the same stage school which produced previous finalists Rikki Loney and Nikitta Angus. Last night the school's principal Lizanne Thomson said: "They're all great girls and they're still the best of friends." Read more: http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scot...#ixzz10gZRKsqO ![]() |

Good for them. Not taking Simon's word as though he's god.
The one thing I hate about X Factor (Simon showed it with Storm Lee) is that he seems to hate uniqueness and things that make people individual. He's looking for another Leona, another Mariah, another Whitney but anyone dares be themselves and he's changing their style. No wonder the show gets slated for manufacturing generic popstars. Must Be The Music was a much better search for new talent. |
